  1. Just to add something similar to what was previously posted about Chipper Jones. Right after word came out about Braun failing the test, I emailed Jim Morris, his coach at Miami. I met Coach Morris in Omaha at the CWS in 2008 (I've been going to the CWS since 2000). He and I have exchanged emails a couple times a year since then. Pretty cool to be able to email and get an immediate response from a D-1 baseball coach who's successful as he's been in college baseball. Coach Morris said "we shouldn't prejudge Ryan and he doesn't know what happened. He wants a chance and we should give him that." Every time I have talked to Coach Morris he has never said anything bad about Ryan and has always said "he's a great kid, who's very smart and confident". I know this is nothing earth shattering.
  2. Maybe I missed something in all of these posts but wasn't Prince emotional because of what had just happened? Winning game 5 of the NLDS, the way that they did, with a bunch of guys he truly loves being around. I was emotional and I don't play on that team. It's about being on a team and being with a bunch of guys and loving every minute of it. Has anyone played on a team before and felt this? I have as a coach and player and nothing can replace those memories and feelings. Yes in most cases that should mean much more than money. Everyone has their different feelings about what they want in their life. I love Prince and have a hard time wondering how much $50+ million extra really means. I will miss him when he goes BUT I do not want the teams financial situation to suffer because someone feels we need to over pay him. Honestly I'm looking forward to the makeup of next year's team. For now, LETS GO BEAT THE CARDINALS!!
  3. I'm really going to miss him because he used to work the College World Series games for ESPN and did a great job.
  4. I was in section 123 row 16 with my brother, another BF.net member.
  5. This what I posted when I got back from Omaha this year. Not sure if it helps but from what I heard about him the kid is okay. For what it's worth, I talked to a half dozen Texas fans(ages from 20's to 60's) at the CWS last week. Two were just casual fans(and they admitted it to me), and the other 4 were "bleed burnt orange" fans. All 6 of them had nothing bad to say about Jungmann. In fact they all said he was a class act kid who they loved to watch pitch. If anything they said he was a little too competitive and comes off as self centered when in fact he's not, he just wants to win! There's nothing official in what I say or there's nothing other to back this up, take it for what it's worth. But, I've been to Omaha the last 12 years, meet people each year from different schools/area of the country. (In 2008 I had a great conversation with Jim Morris, if anyone knows who he is, about Ryan Braun. Heck, Morris and I had email conversations about the Brewers/Braun the last week of the 2008 season) Sometimes, not all of the time, it's more of what's between the ears and in the heart that matters.
  6. I have always wanted to say this when his name has come up...Just heard some things that in 2009 the Brewers weren't happy with the people he had hanging around the clubhouse because the Brewers promote a "family atmosphere" there. How can I say this...Maybe they weren't the best of influences. And maybe that's one of the many reasons he's been with so many different clubs(this is just speculation on my part, who knows) Sorry got to go, off to the game!!
  7. I think their done, the Lopez was the "big" move. The price of the others is too high.
  8. So this then does mean DM thinks there's no trades to be made and he's going with what he's has? Man, I sure hope not because it could be a long August and Sept then. Has anyone heard about the "entourage"/"people" Lopez had around him in 2009? Just wondering.
  9. And what's the reason they can't sit Casey for 2-3 games? Yuni for the same thing? At this point what do they bring to the club? 3 months of this garbage...so does DM and RR think "once those 2 get going we really will run away with the division!". They didn't seem to have this much loyalty to JJ when he was struggling.

  11. I like the Cal story because baseball was all but dead at the school(Like Madison!) but was resurrected by fundraising... and oh yeah, making it to Omaha doesn't hurt. Would like to see A & M because their coach is the former pitching coach at NE-Lincoln and I know that just burns some people from NE that he left to have success and they ended up firing their coach this year. bthurley19-Do you have tickets? The people we buy them from are very pissed where their seat location is, on the club level. I heard there are a lot of people not happy where they were place at "The Trade". I don't care being able to see 5 games(unless it floods) at any level is cool by me.
  12. That's cool, don't know if I'll be rooting for them. Right now I'm thinking Vandy or Cal, maybe A&M.
  13. Just doing my yearly, "Is anyone going to the CWS"? This will be my 12th consecutive year of going to Omaha. Flying in late Sun night and leaving Thurs afternoon. We have tickets to both games Monday, Tuesday, and the single game on Wednesday. Hope we don't get flooded out, because things don't sound good if they get a large rain event!
  14. I'm not 100% sure but, if everything plays out with the way the Super Regionals were set up(and the way it's happened over the past years), looks like Jungmann will pitch on Saturday vs Florida. I am assuming ESPN will put that game on at 6pm Saturday night(instead of 1pm) because it's Texas vs Florida and a bigger ratings draw. At some point I'm looking to make some sort of contact with him when I'm there Sunday night through Thursday afternoon. If I do I will post something and BF.net. Will be interesting to see the access to players at "The Trade". At Rosenblatt it was easy to talk to players when they were coming/going... if the players wanted to talk. We are staying close to downtown so we might be able to find the Texas hotel.
