  1. Currently in my first year of graduate school, albeit round two of graduate school, which will make easy to always remember that I was at the library when I found out about Braunie. Go Crew!
  2. I know folks have talked about this past season as the "all-in" year, and maybe they're right, but I don't think this is back to full scale rebuilding yet. Feels more like a chopped pot to me if we stick with the poker analogy. Of course, I can tend to get carried away sometimes. The Crew has Braun hitting like a star in the lineup for years to come. What better guy to build around? Add to him Axford (a shutdown closer--though I know such things swing up and down in that role) and Gallardo, and you're looking at a solid core of hitting and pitching for the next couple years. There's also Greinke and Marcum rounding out the rotation next year, and though I know the latter took a lot of rightful criticism, hopefully he can still be counted on for some quality regular season numbers. Then there's Luc, a really good catching bat, and Weeks, who produces a lot at second. I would like to see some defensive upgrades in right and at short, but if the Crew can even get a competent first base replacement for Fielder and maybe give Green a shot, I like how 2012 looks from a potential standpoint. DM is going to have some cash to work with, the farm system is being restocked, and the league MVP is in the lineup for the next decade. Yeah, count me in as one who thinks this is a pretty cool time to be a Brewer fan.
  3. I love this team, and I know this hurts, but I can't deal with it in any way but to try and be positive. So, I guess this the counterpoint to the catharsis thread. I love that I had the opportunity to share this with y'all here at BF.net. Even when I wasn't posting, it was great to check in with folks that cared as much about this team as I do. This was the best season of my life, and, even though it's over, I'm going to be thinking fondly about Nyjer's walk-off single for the rest of my existence. I just wanted to share that I never thought I'd be tuning into a Sunday night Packer game, and hearing Al Micheals reiterate that the Brewers won Game One of the NLCS. The second I heard it, I vowed to appreciate the ride for everything it was and is, and I'm glad I'm a Brewer fan. Go Crew!
  4. Thanks BF.netters. I had a lot of fun this year. This game will hurt you I guess. I know this is a tough end, but this team has a lot to be proud of, and hopefully they know that.
  5. This is the most fun I've ever had following baseball. It's also been incredibly unhealthy heart wise these past few weeks, but that's what we live for, right? Division champs, and winners of a playoff series. How many of us would have loved that outcome before the year began? And I know it hurts to get so close, but man. These guys made it so much fun, and lots of them are coming back next year. What a ride, and I know I'll be ready to buckle up again come March. Go Brewers.
  6. Whatever happens the next inning and a half, this has been one heck of a ride. Lots of good memories to take from this year. And Nyjer's walkoff single is a moment fans of lots teams would kill for. Still, let's show at least a little fight here, huh?
  7. I'm kind of resigned to losing this one, but I'm going to try like heck to just enjoy these last three innings. I'm still holding out the tiniest sliver of hope for a giant seventh. Like a 12 batter, snowman type inning, the kind that makes us all sing the praises of Abner Doubleday for not giving this sport a clock.
  8. This is bizarro world. Yuni is the defensive MVP so far tonight...
  9. Good news is that Prince chopper would have been a DP anyway....
  10. I did have a dream last night that the Brewers scored 21 runs in the 7th inning. So there's that....
  11. I don't know if anyone has one of those Win Expectancy charts, but even if a comeback is a statistical rarity, I'd love to see this team really fight and scrap for every out. Even if it ends up being more heartbreaking for us fans, I think Ryan, Prince, Rickie, and co. really need to work the count and focus on baserunners, baserunners, baserunners. Ten runs isn't out of this team's talent range, so let's at least push these guys in the next 5.5 innings.
  12. What a yo-yo game. Please, get out of this only down 2. Seriously.
  13. By my count, the Crew has now trailed in every game of this series. Gotta stop digging holes here. But I guess the bright side is that there's the chance to do something historic. Namely, win in a series in which we've trailed every game. That can't have been done very often before.
  14. I think the Hold Steady can propel the Crew to victory tonight. Stay positive, boys.
  15. Game 5 is always huge. I know winning last night guaranteed a series headed back to Milwaukee, but there is a huge difference between being up 3-2 and down 2-3. Not that the latter would be insurmountable for the Crew, but you know those early frames in Game 6 might be a little tight and scary. You have to give your team the best chance to win. That's Greinke tonight. Totally buy that argument.
  16. Let's just hope. It's way too late to be awake, but that's what a huge win does. Brewers, make me stay up until 4 tomorrow.
  17. I think The Hold Steady can propel the Crew to victory tonight. Stay Positive, boys.
  18. Last night I thought all the pressure was on St. Louis. They needed to win behind Carp, or face the very real possibility of coming back to Milwaukee down 3-2 unless they could somehow manage to win behind Lohse and against Greinke. Obviously, that win was big for them, and tonight I think the pressure is squarely on the Crew. BUT this is the playoffs, and it's amazing how just one win can change the entire equation. A W tonight, and everything is all square with Greinke tabbed for Friday, and, even if ZG has struggled in his last two starts, he's still capable of really shutting an offense down. The Brewers need to bounce back, but just one win suddenly makes everything a lot brighter. I have a good feeling about tonight, so Go Brewers!
  19. I get the frustration with Kotsay. I do. But Braun and Fielder did not come through tonight, and when they don't drive in runs, this team has a real hard time winning ball games. I think they'll be ready tomorrow, and, to be honest, I like the Crew's chances in Game 5.
  20. That first inning play by Kotsay was a killer, as was Rickie's K in the fifth. No baserunners after that. Well, Kyle Lohse can be had tomorrow, so let's hope Wolfie brings his A game. Still a long way to go, folks.
  21. This seems strange to me. The listed starter doesn't have to make it through the first half inning. Could he throw one pitch and be removed? Not trying to be snarky, just honestly curious. Maybe tonight is when RR would do well to imitate Jimmy Leyland in some respect. Stick Gallardo in the outfield or something, just to see http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Big game tonight, and I'm going to enjoy it. It's great to be in the NLCS. Game 3. A chance to get a huge win. Thank you, Mark A and DM for putting this together. Thank you, hitters and pitchers. Thank you, coaches. Go Crew! Have fun out there tonight.
  23. I know Wolf doesn't exactly inspire confidence. But Lohse is pretty blah as well...In fact, they seem to mirror each other a bit. Capable of either a real shut down 6 or a total bed crap. Wolf can take him in Game 4. Game 3 is such a pivot point now. As odd numbered games are when things are even. I remember Gallardo taking a no hitter into the eighth (or seventh?) during that terrible road trip way back at the start of the year. It was almost like he just decided not to let us lose. Let's hope we get that Yovani on Wednesday. We can hit Carp. He'll be tough, but I think we can get the big hit off of him.
