    With all the down time this year, what will he be doing in the 4th year? Maybe playing with his kids, given the contract's only 3 years.

    If he had a lower ERA, it was would be a definite. If you say so. Regardless, a 4.4 (or whatever it is now) ain't going to get you to the All-Star game *ever*. Saying "if he had a lower ERA" is roughly akin to saying "if he were an All-Star, he'd be an All-Star."

    I firmly believe in reversion to the mean and if there was ever a case where it was necessary to talk about with, it's in those two players' cases. That's fine, but I'm just saying that everybody (including me) has been predicting that the Sox are going to fall back to earth, and it keeps not happening. Career years happen once a career, after all.
