  1. One hot streak shouldn't overshadow how mediocre the Cubs have been all year. Just as an unlucky losing streak shouldn't overshadow how good the Brewers have been. Cubs haven't been hitting all year and Quintana won't fix that. Sure they will be tougher to hit against because of him, but that still wont make up for their other issues. I'm all for the Gray trade. It's not like he would be a rental. There is both short-term and long-term value to him.
  2. Wow did that ump screw Keuchel over. He had Morales struck out on the pitch before the HR. Keuchel's already gassed and the ump does him no favors screwing him out of strikes. Just horrid officiating. Of course it's Houston's fault for putting themselves in that position. If their idiot manager had brought in Sipp back in game 4 maybe there wouldn't have been a game 5. Bad coaching kills teams. Hinch needs to go if they want to maximize this young ballclub's potential. I'm so tired of the extreme bias shown in favor of the queens. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore. MLB badly wants the Royals to win. I hope the Blue Jays sweep them.
  3. Much better deal than the Mets one. Now hopefully Parra is next.
  4. Wow can't recall the last time I saw a team really go ''all-in'' the way the Blue Jays have. There ain't jack [expletive deleted by moderator] left in their farm system. This is either a brilliant all out high risk attempt at a title or the dumbest thing ever done. Either way this is fun. The Blue Jays usually don't contend and it's nice seeing a different team make a run. No one wanted to see the Yankees win the division anyways.
  5. looks like the rangers are back. next year's team will be very nice. the offense will be nasty as usual plus now a rotation trio of darvish, hamels, and gallardo (if he returns). rangers vs astros for the division will be fun to watch. heck we might not even have to wait. rangers could easily make a monster push for the playoffs this year.
  6. dumb trade by the nats. should have just gone after clippard. imo he's better plus he already has history with the team. don't understand the papelbon obsession teams still have.
  7. thank goodness the mets got cold feet. this was a bad trade. 1 injured high potential prospect is not nearly a good enough return for gomez. gomez and lucroy are the 2 biggest chips that this team has. the return the brewers get for those 2 guys has a major impact on the future of this franchise. if they screw up the trade, this team is in deep [expletive deleted by moderator]. i really hope melvin isn't focused on acquiring mediocre talent that can ''help'' now like wilmer flores. melvin needs to shoot for the stars on this. there's no need to trade gomez now anyways. if there's nothing good available wait until the offseason. i hope they are focusing more on trading parra. that's the deal that needs to happen and i'm a little concerned that the rumors regarding parra have been quiet. same thing with fiers. the a's have done a great job trading away their vets. brewers need to pick up the pace.
  8. This team keeps winning and it's awesome. I think a run at a winning record is definitely attainable. Brewers would be in wild card contention if the first months hadn't been so awful.
  9. Wow it's been a while. I was at game 1 of that Angels series. Tribe won the game. Haha I remember the crowd chanting steroids at Gary Matthews Jr.
  10. can't remember the last time they came to milwaukee. i like these rare interleague series.
  11. Agreed. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Sort of. Maybe the Cub fans are our... Frenemies? The "diehard" Cub fans that have stuck with their team during the last ten years of crappy play seem to be generally OK. They have some notable celebrity fans that are hard to dislike (Murray, Vince Vaugh & Nick Offerman). But when their team turns the corner in the next few years, there will be lot of bandwagon Cub fans that come back out of the woodwork that are some of the most insufferable fans you will encounter. Oh shoot it's going to be so annoying seeing those idiots travel in packs to Miller Park and starting fights.
  12. Nice to see the Brewers showing signs of life. Maybe Counsell is a good manager. Maybe the stench of RRR is finally wearing off. Who knows. All I know is that it's fun watching them again. Hopefully they can finish above .500.
  13. And that's why I don't think they'll do a total rebuild. Attanasio doesn't seem like the type of owner that is willing to sit through several mediocre seasons while waiting for prospects to develop. He has that Steinbrenner syndrome. Wants to compete no matter what. I think they might trade away 1 or 2 guys, but I doubt they'll trade away anyone important. He seems perfectly content to ride this wave until the very end.....and then sign another veteran ex-Cardinal pitcher and give away a draft pick
  14. Ugh that's an ugly list. Can't win in baseball without pitching. This team had a very talented offense that was always having to overcome the lack of pitching. IMO Brewers win the World Series in 2011 if the pitching staff hadn't fallen apart. Since then the team has sucked because the rotation wasn't good enough and now the once fearsome offense stinks. I hope the next version of the Brewers is centered around great pitching. The Giants have shown you can succeed with an average offense as long as your pitching kicks ass.
  15. This sounds like something Attanasio would say. And with the Brewers poor track record of developing prospects, it's not that crazy. Brewers aren't the Cardinals. Who is the last good pitcher they developed besides Gallardo and Sheets? I can't remember the last time the Brewers developed a hitter that was patient, made good contact, and knew what pitch recognition was. Most of this team's hitter are incredibly greedy and impatient. Even the best hitter the Brewers have developed is annoyingly impatient and greedy. Braun still hacks away at everything low. I can't count the number of times I've seen him selfishly swing for the fences instead of trying to put the ball in play with men on base. Just throw a slider low and away and you'll get Braun to hack away. There's a reason why the Cardinals kick the Brewers butt just about every time. They know what they're doing. MLB prospects are already a crapshoot. Factor in a mediocre franchise like the Brewers being tasked with developing them and the odds of those prospects turning into useful stars decreases. Until Melvin and his cronies are gone, things will remain the same.
  16. I've seen lots of hyped up prospects flame out. I'm not saying that the same will happen to the Brewers prospects, but it wouldn't surprise. It's hard for me to get excited about MLB prospects since it takes them forever to develop, if they develop at all. Arcia, Lara, Medeiros, and Coulter could tear up the minors but flop when they get to Milwaukee. Who the heck even knows how much longer it'll take them to arrive in Milwaukee. I guess it's just easier to get excited about football and basketball prospects since it's a shorter road to being a contributing regular on the roster.
  17. How do you figure that? A year ago the Brewers had an abysmal minor league system and an aging major league roster. I think they are in a better position right now than they were a year ago. For the most part they're in the same spot, but at least last year the aging roster was better than this year's sorry version. Bucks last season were just a complete disaster. This year everything has changed. Their future is exciting. The Brewers? Major league roster is old and sh!tty. The farm system sucks. No young bucks to get excited about.
  18. Oh man what a sorry state this team is in. Funny how a year ago the Brewers had way better long term prospects than the Bucks did. Now it's the opposite. Bucks have a bright future and the Brewers....well....ugh I hoped that this team would be good one last time and make the run this year that for most of last year they looked like they were going to make. Barring a drastic turnaround, that ain't going to happen. Blow this sucker up and trade everyone. Might as well pull an Astros style rebuild and try our luck again in a few years. Consecutive losing seasons is inevitable for this franchise. At least with a rebuild they'll be losing but with optimism for the future. Staying the course is going to lead to losing seasons but with a trash farm system. Gomez and Lucroy are the best trade chips this team has. If Braun ever turns it around ship him out of here too.
  19. so this team looks like they're going to be very boring for the first few weeks or so. hey maybe this year they'll suck for the first 2 months and go on a tear after that.
  20. Record: 89 - 73 Playoffs: Yes, lose in NLDS to Nationals. MVP: Ryan Braun (he will be back to norm) Surprise: Not many besides Brewers fans expect Ryan Braun to return to MVP level. I think that now he'll finally be healthy and return to being a top 5 player in all of baseball. Disappointment: Mike Fiers continues his inconsistency and disappears to the minor leagues. All stars: Braun, Gomez, Lohse, Garza, Peralta Bold prediction: Brewers rotation finishes within the top 5 best team ERA's.
  21. Certainly wouldn't complain if that's how things turned out lol
  22. Bored so why not? Let's see some predictions for fun! 2015 MLB Season AL East Boston Red Sox 95-67 Baltimore Orioles 85-77 Toronto Blue Jays 83-79 New York Yankees 81-81 Tampa Bay Rays 72-90 AL Central Cleveland Indians 89-73 Chicago White Sox 88-74 Detroit Tigers 87-75 Kansas City Royals 77-85 Minnesota Twins 75-87 AL West Seattle Mariners 96-66 Oakland Athletics 86-76 Los Angeles Angels 84-78 Texas Rangers 79-83 Houston Astros 74-88 NL East Washington Nationals 101-61 Miami Marlins 85-77 New York Mets 83-79 Atlanta Braves 75-87 Philadelphia Phillies 66-96 NL Central St. Louis Cardinals 93-69 Milwaukee Brewers 88-74 Pittsburgh Pirates 86-76 Cincinnati Reds 81-81 Chicago Cubs 79-83 NL West Los Angeles Dodgers 98-64 San Diego Padres 90-72 San Francisco Giants 84-78 Colorado Rockies 68-94 Arizona Diamondbacks 67-95 AL Wild Card Detroit Tigers 1 Chicago White Sox 0 NL Wild Card Milwaukee Brewers 1 San Diego Padres 0 ALDS Detroit Tigers 3 Seattle Mariners 2 Cleveland Indians 3 Boston Red Sox 2 NLDS Milwaukee Brewers 1 Washington Nationals 3 St. Louis Cardinals 3 Los Angeles Dodgers 2 ALCS Detroit Tigers 4 Cleveland Indians 2 NLCS St. Louis Cardinals 4 Los Angeles Dodgers 3 2015 World Series Detroit Tigers 1 St. Louis Cardinals 4
  23. I'd go uber conservative and hold him out as long as possible. Don't really care if he misses most of April. Brewers were hot in April and still missed the playoffs. Luc being 100% healthy in the summer months is what matters. edit: removal of curse word - pitchleague
