  1. Yordan will be an interesting case come the trade deadline. Yes, he's a DH.....but also a guy that's probably going to be on pace to hit around 50 home runs if he stays healthy. He also will have 2.5 years of team control until he hits FA.....but not at a real cheap price either. Looks like he's making about $27M this year and the same salary the next two seasons. For us to get involved in a guy like Yordan, there's no doubt that the Stros would have to pay down some of that salary, which would then only increase the trade package going back to them. On top of that, we have Yeli who's already occupying that DH role most nights. So, I HIGHLY doubt we're going to be a player for Yordan come July.....for several different reasons.
  2. NO CHANCE we're giving up Jett, Sproat AND a few of our 10-20th ranked prospects. Our system is so deep, you're talking about also giving up guys like Adamczewski, Adams, Payne, JDT, Gas, Burke, Hardin, Ebel, etc. Arnold simply isn't going to ever give up three of those guys AND Jett AND Sproat for 2-3 months of one player. No way. In fact, not even the craziest of GM's (i.e. Preller) is doing a deal like that for a rental arm.
  3. Any chance we have a live stream feed from either of these DSL games today? Loved having that option to watch yesterday!
  4. I don't think you're too far off here and I do feel like we can probably get a deal done with Detroit without having to include Made or Pena (Made for sure will be untouchable). One guy I could absolutely see them wanting to land in a deal with us would be Lara, and my real hope here is that Arnold would also make him untouchable. My best guess in a package that might get a deal done would be: Jett, Adamczewski and either Gasser/JDT. That's a Top 100 prospect in Jett, a borderline Top 100 guy in Adamczewski and a Top 15 org guy in either Gas/JDT. I guess it might depend too on what the Tigers value coming back in return? Do they NEED to get a top pitching prospect back instead of a position player? If so, then maybe you sub in Letson for Jett or maybe a Hardin for Adamczewski (not both though)?
  5. DBacks are off to a great start this year with pitching reinforcements coming soon (Burnes being one). Unless if they crater over the next month+ I don't see them trading Arenado who's having a really solid season down there. Paredes would undoubtedly be an upgrade over Rengifo, but I think he's also got another year or two before FA, right? So, I don't know if we'd want to overpay for a guy like that who's going to then block some of our 3B prospects (Jett, Made, Fischer, etc.)? Baty has looked pretty awful so far this year (yet still performing WAY better than Rengifo), and with multiple years left of control - I'd worry that we'd again have to overpay for him and then he might block some of our prospects coming up? Bohm - another guy not having a good year and he's actually closer to Rengifo's production thus far than any of these other guys. In summary - I just don't know if any of these guys make a ton of sense for us? We do need to upgrade 3B position though....and I'm just not sure what the best way we're going to be able to do that at the deadline this year?
  6. Do we have any insight on what's going on with Payne? Also, I see no Made in the lineup again for game 1 of this DH today. Seems very odd to miss a Tuesday night game (after the off day), but even more concerning when you're now missing a Wednesday game on top of it.
  7. Looks like Frias got removed mid-game last night. Hope this wasn't injury related.
  8. So exciting what he's doing to start this season. Still only 20 years old. Looks like we got the full Andrew Fischer experience today. 3-5 with a 440 ft bomb, but then K's in his final two AB's on breaking balls in the dirt.
  9. I've been dreaming on a Buxton trade since last summer. Of course, we saw first hand this weekend the downside of Buxton as he didn't play in any of the games due to another injury (this one sounds minor though). I'd love to put him in the middle of our order and have him play the OF for us the next 2.5 years, as he's the power bat I think we're missing. Another intriguing power bat that could be available this summer (and would no doubt be in HIGH demand) is Yordan Alvarez. Not sure if the Astros are going to be willing to deal them, but that's a franchise that really needs to hit the "reset" button now and they could really replenish their farm system if they were to deal Yordan. The problem we have with a guy like that is the fact that I think he's mostly a DH these days, and with Yeli already occupying DH for us I just don't see a fit. Again though, can you imagine his bat in the middle of our lineup??!!
  10. Ummmm......no way in hell I'm trading Sproat for Freddy straight up! Sproat looks like a huge part of our rotation over the next 4-5 years....why would we want to deal him back to the Mets for 2-3 months of Freddy? Arnold should be shipped off immediately if he made a deal like this.
  11. Do we know the reason why Letson only went 3 innings and only 42 pitches on Saturday night? Should there be any reason for concern here?
  12. Thanks for the update here! I had forgotten that Flores is out for the injury, so glad you cleared that up. A bit surprised that Fenelon is stateside, but that's encouraging that they must still think very highly of him to promote him with Antunez.
  13. Joey Ortiz with zero XBH's in over 70 PA's so far this year is simply astounding. 11 singles....that's it.
  14. I hear you, but we also know that the Brewers are never going to rush anyone back from an injury....especially someone as valuable as Chourio. I think they're going to want to make 100% sure that he's fully healed from this hand injury and that he can hit the ground running (without any fear of reinjury) when he does return. I hope you're right and he's back earlier than next week, but that would surprise me if he's back this weekend already.
