  1. I'm certainly okay with shutting down Nelson and Peralta at this point, but I'm not particularly okay with Cravy being the spot starter. Let's be serious - he's never going to spend regular time in even an average rotation. We need to be stretching our prospects, and at this point our pitching prospect list is at least somewhat deep. Even if it's someone like Thornburg, I'd rather watch him than Cravy. Oh well. I had better get to see Lopez start before the end of the season, or I'll be seriously disappointed.
  2. This is absolutely correct. The MLB draft is regularly incredibly deep. Tanking makes sense if you're an NBA team, where finding legitimate talent outside of the top 8-14 in any given draft is rare. But tanking for an MLB pick in drafts that have talent and hidden gems 20+ rounds deep is just kind of silly.
  3. Yep, and lack of financial incentives or not, haven't heard a peep out of Lohse as half the farm gets called up to make starts and he's still pitching out his contract with the most meaningless innings. At least some guys can remain professional. Yes, quite right. Lohse was miserable to watch pitch this year, but at least he took it gracefully and professionally. Lohse obviously won't be back next season, but even though he pitched horribly this year, the way he took his "demotion" will make me think positively in the long-run. Garza will forever be tainted for a lot of fans, I think... unless he comes back and puts together a Cy Young caliber season.
  4. What do we do with Santana? Send him back to AAA in 2016? In this quoted hypothetical outfield line-up (Braun, Davis, Phillips), I think the logical solution to include Santana would be to platoon him and Phillips early, then decide who goes. That wouldn't mean an exclusive battle between Phillips and Santana, though. If they're both performing well and Davis isn't, I'd move Santana over to left. Braun won't go anywhere regardless of his performance. If all three perform well, one of them stays as a fourth outfielder, and we can start platooning Braun at first with Lind. Regardless, I do believe it's possible (even likely) that both Phillips and Santana will be on the opening day roster.
  5. His [very public] reaction to this move was absolutely unacceptable. He has an ERA near 6.00, he's been injured constantly since he put on a Brewers uniform, and he has been given as many chances as anyone. His reaction was that of a player who feels overly-secure and self-entitled. It's kind of amazing that he even made it this long in the starting rotation before being shut down or moved to the pen. Further, the fact that he apparently turned down the offer to pitch out of the bullpen is even more dismaying. He obviously believes he's above playing out of the bullpen and would rather sit on his ass and be a spoiled brat than try to get some pitches in before the end of the season. In my mind, that is unacceptable. I hope the Brewers can find a way to trade him this offseason. I don't really care for what. A PTBNL or a bag of sunflower seeds with us paying most of his remaining $25 million. I want him gone. I'm glad the Crew has made the decision to take an extended look at the young guys. We have some solid talent in the farm now, and no need to win any games. Let's figure out what our rotation will look like in the coming years. I liked Garza and was supportive of the signing, but his juvenile reaction has completely turned me off of him. Just ridiculous.
  6. I think you lot are being way too critical of Davies after one major league start, especially against a pretty good club like the Pirates. He had some command issues, but all of the damage done against him really was on one bad pitch to A-Ram. He showed some pretty solid flashes aside from that, and it's clear he was having some (very justifiable) jitters. Saying he's doomed to mediocrity or destined to the bullpen is insanely premature.
  7. Happy for Mike. I wrote an article on Bleacher Report in 2012 arguing that his curveball was the best pitch in that starting rotation. It looked fantastic last night, as well. Some small compensation to see Domingo hit a homer in his Brewers debut. All of the guys we got in the GoGo/Fiers trade are looking pretty incredible right now. A debut homer isn't as flashy as a no-no, but it's something.
  8. Hey guys, I'm new here, so sorry if this is something that's been discussed or something, but I've done my searching far and wide, and I can't really find much about Brian Anderson? I can't help but missing his play-by-play during games. Anyone know where he's been and when/if he's coming back?
