  1. 1. Instant replay...if you leave the dugout on a close play it is an automatic challenge. The umps have a split second to make a decision and that is what the manager should get. The obligatory walk out to talk while footage is being viewed takes away from the game on the field. If you are right you keep your challenge, wrong and that is it for the game. Make the challenge a strategic part of the game not something that slows it down. 2. Do away with the DH...which the player's union will probably not allow. So instead split the difference like they do in softball. DH in both leagues but the pitcher still has to bat. That way the aging sluggers keep a job and the strategy involved in pitchers hitting stays. 3. Re-instate Pete Rose before it is too late. I understand the gravity of the gambling in regards to the horrible part it has played in the game's history, however, there are many worse offenders who are not banned for life. He has done his time, let him out of prison. 4. The All Star game is an exhibition game. Some of the best moments are when the players are goofing around. To play 162 games and have the best record and not have home field advantage is ridiculous. 5. Give the Brewers the title of America's team, which they so richly deserve.
  2. I was totally enamored with Kirk Gibson and the arm pump home run. He was, to me, the epitome of the old school player and I was jumping and cheering in my living room when it happened. Now it appears he is nothing more than a bully who is obviously compensating for some shortcoming in his life. There is nothing "old school" about his team's attitude, more like a spoiled rotten kid that isn't getting his way. Matheny should take note and distance himself from such childish behavior...not that it will ever happen. I see no reason that Matheny, and to a much greater degree Gibson, shouldn't be suspended each time one of there pitchers hits a batter at this point. MLB should have left in home plate collisions and done away with this garbage.
  3. There is obviously something management really, really likes in the kid--It is such an obvious handicap to the team--and I like the fact that while they are looking toward winning today they keep an eye to the future. I just can't believe they would be "gambling" on this. They believe this is a pretty sure thing for the franchise.
  4. There should be no phone call to see if you want to challenge it. The umps have to make a split second call and so should the managers. If the manager comes out about a call it's an automatic challenge and if he's wrong he has no more challenges. Which just may (because of lost challenges) bring back manager/umpire arguments, which I quite frankly miss.
  5. As a few of you have touched on; I think the perceived lack of interest in the Brewer's has to do with the media and how they cover sports. Where I work we have TV in the break and lunch rooms and are only allowed Sports or News channels. I go straight to where the sports channels are and it is rare indeed that there is any mention of baseball, much less talk of the Brewers. Granted the NBA and NHL playoffs are stories but many times it is indeed the NFL taking up the airtime. There is the draft, Manziel, Michael Sam, OTA's...blah, blah, blah. I'm not saying these are not valid stories, fact is they are, but my guess is it's the advertising dollars driving the bus. Apparently baseball is just not as sexy as the other sports that have all been mentioned. The reason I followed this site for some time now, and finally actually signed up, is that trying to get a baseball fix is simply not easy to do either with sport shows or even with the general public.
