You know to be honest I actually really like the thin crust at Pizza Hut, no shame. The outer crust is arguably some of the best I have ever eaten and I just can't go wrong getting a pepperoni lovers. Overall it may not be great, but I just have to get it occasionally for those crusty filled bites at the end of every slice. My comparable to toppers sticks is the bread bites at Dominos...they are like gold nuggets of goodness. I like to get Neapolitan pizza sometimes, but that is a type of pizza pretty void in Wisconsin.

Always been a fan of the Sammy's in Eau Claire. My personal #1 is Wells Brothers in Racine, which is a bit underrated in the area all things considered. Bill's in Stevens Point is also pretty good. If I am watching a Brewers game you can't go wrong with a good Pizza Ranch buffet!

Stopped watching that when they killed more humans than zombies. It really just got boring at that point. Then when Rick and Carl went? Yeah, felt they were integral parts of the show. I always figured I would go back and watch it on Netflix until they went.

I mean once you take out all the airfare, travel, hotel, food, and memorabilia you aren't paying a ton for the "experience". They could easily up this cost considering the demand it gets and always sells out. It is nice they keep the price reasonable. However being sticklers about the flights etc. is pretty lame. It would not be that hard to discount someone if they find their own airfare.

I disagree that Medeiros was a bust. He brought back Soria in a trade, and Soria was a huge part of the shutdown pen in September that they rode to the playoffs. He has not looked good so far for AA Birmingham in the White Sox system, though. He had an ERA north of 6 in September/October last year and was a human trash can in the NLCS too. Soria was pretty terrible for us and the fact two months of a reliever is all our former #12 could net us is a solid sign he was a bust for us. Not to mention he was pretty expensive on top of that. I mean, sure, he was apart of the shutdown pen. He wasn't the shutdown part of it though.

Funny the Brewers probably would have never drafted Yamamoto had it not been for them scouting Medeiros so hard in Hawaii for that 2014 draft. Turns our Yamamoto was the real gem and Medeiros was a total bust.

This is something I've thought about for a while now. How much credit/blame goes to the new club for that change? Miami might just not have the same level of scouting, coaching or analytics the Brewers have so the players involved might not perform the same as if they had been with the original club. Would Brinson have struggled the same here as he has there for example? That to me is the one thing we can't know when assessing the success of a trade. Obviously Miami has had success in developing top talent players but how much success has the Jeter era really had? Specifically with Yelich it is important to note he really started tinkering with his swing/stance when he came over here because he was in a new park (and division foe parks) that offered a lot more power potential for him. Increasing his launch angle and power would probably not have had much in the way of insane results in Marlin's Park. I am not sure how much the Brewers truly had to do with that. The odds they were trying to toy with Yelich's batting is really unlikely considering he was already an AS level player etc. Regarding Brinson...yah I think he would have sucked here too.

That really isn't accurate though because one player getting 40 WAR doesn't equal four players collectively getting that. Yearly we could have three guys at league minimum put up 1-1.5 WAR if we wanted to go with what Yelich does. Add that into the equation and Yelich (plus three guys) is probably worth more like 70 WAR. This doesn't take into consideration those four guys after extensions/arbitration are likely to cost more than Yelich if they are all relevant enough to garner 40 WAR together, maybe even exponentially more for the same production Yelich gave us. Realistically to outperform Yelich, and the three guys we pair up with him, those four players will need nearly double the figure you listed. Think about if all those players became even solid starters and went through the entire arbitration system. Each would cost $8mil+ by the end. That $32mil in one year is already half of what we will pay Yelich over his entire 5 year contract. It is way to complicated and impossible to really predict what it will take for them to be of similar value in a statistical/financial sense, but it would take way more than 40 WAR of production. End of the day though I think we got what we wanted (well way more) and what those players become (assuming none become stars) is woefully irrelevant to us. Good chance Yelich doesn't transform into a bonifide star in Miami so what he does he is pretty irrelevant to them. They just need those players to provide value to them now.

Hard to compare the two. We didn't trade 4 above average players for Yelich. We traded 4 guys with zero value in the near future that were prospects. We traded away stock essentially. The Marlins bought it hoping their risk would pay off as a big healthy positive investment down the road.

I always liked both Diaz and Harrison. Watching Diaz a lot in 2016 I was convinced he was a definite MLB bat some day. He could be a really good player if that HR power translates to the MLB level...and he is having quite a HR year in AAA so far. Monte Harrison was my prospect crush. He is also having a stellar year including 19 SBs with only 1 CS in 43 games, wow. However, we traded those three bats for a reason...all are high risk and all like to strikeout a ton. Which has changed very little since the trade. I think it is very likely Yelich is a free agent and gone before any of those guys make an MLB impact.

That was my thought. I'd expect somewhere in the middle to be honest...probably slightly skewed toward the first half if anything. .900ish OPS is what I expect out of him and is what I originally thought was a fair expectation moving to a more hitter friendly environment.

It is crazy how "disappointing" he was in the first half and he then ended up as the runaway MVP favorite by the end of the season. His second half was just unreal. For the first three months he was really no better than he was in Miami. Which was not really the expectation going from Marlins Park to Miller Park. Should be interesting to see how next year goes. Is he actually anywhere close to what he did in the second half? Hard to know what he really is when one half of the season was just goof offensively and the second half was off the charts Barry Bonds.

I don’t get how only two teams made serious offerers. It just does not make very much sense. I mean...two? The Marlins absolutely blew that trade. Did the GM give every team 60 seconds to call and he only had time to field two offers? What a fail. Incredible to get a guy who did not get a single vote last year to garnering 29/30 first place votes this year. I’m not sure how the rest of Yelichs time will go here, but considering the fact he was on the rise, proven stud, and controllable at a cheap cost this may end up the biggest trade robbery in MLB history.

Right, but the concept of it being an investment vehicle isn’t really accurate. It is more like a savings account. Not bad if that is your goal. If you are trying to actually invest and grow your money...not so great.

I just read about the $1 a month rate. That definitely is a downer. I read a bit about it and thought it might be a nice secondary way to save up for a vacation or something without really even noticing the money going anywhere. Haha that is really funny as I typed that up as a reason I could see someone using Acorn, but opted to delete it out of my post. Though I thought of an example of $25 a month and saving up for a $2,000 vacation...still would take nearly 7 years to accomplish if that is what your Acorn account was averaging.

Those round up investment apps are a complete and stupid scam. Acorns charges $1 a month if your balance is under $5,000. That is 4% if you are putting in $25 a month. Yikes. Not to mention this really is not going to build you any meaningful wealth anyway. If you really want to maximize returns and actually invest look elsewhere. Acorns is great for people that have no ability to actually save the conventional way. People who like spending and have a hard time putting a big sum at once into savings. Even $25 is hard for some people. However putting in .25 when you spend $10 etc. seems like "oops I dropped a quarter, oh well". That can add up over time though if you have 50+ transactions a month. Suddenly those people can save a little bit.

I agree. Incredibly obnoxious, especially when everyone should just be happy about such an incredible run. By the way, your numbers are way off. His SLG alone is 1.500 for the last 7 games. His OPS is over 2.100. Thanks for the catch, I was trying to refer to SLG.

I’m pretty sure it isn’t absurd to say he wasn’t on pace (really nowhere near) to get to 7 WAR a week ago. Because that is all I was doing. I will wait for you to quote yourself on how you predicted him to OPS like 1.400 this week and get to 7.4.

I wouldn't say that. A lot of people were hoping/expecting his HR total to bump up near 30. He had 18 last year and if they were all at MP he would have had 8 more plus a lot of wall scrappers. Not hard to imagine his HR total being what it is right now...I personally expected him to float around 30 HRs a year with us. That is where a huge majority of his stat bump comes from. What is a little surprising is the .320 average to really juice up his stats. Personally I was expecting about .300 as a safe bet. I had just read the entire thread. Somehow I must have missed your prescient scouting report. I don't recall anyone projecting THESE numbers for Yelich or that he'd be the best bat in the NL. It was well known that MP would give a boost to his numbers. No one took it this far. The only one who should be tooting their own horn is the guy who put him in the MVP race when the trade was made. I would never have guessed he would really compete for the MVP race...but then again I would never have thought the MVP race would be so, average. Yelich is really good, but won't even hit a 7 WAR (just over 6 right now) according to Baseball Reference. Just looking at the last few years: 2018 - 6.1 WAR (Yelich/Baez currently) 2017 - 7.6 WAR 2016 - 7.4 WAR 2015 - 10 WAR (holy...) 2014 - 7.7 WAR 2013 - 7.9 WAR 2012 - 7.6 WAR 2011 - 7.7 WAR 2007 - Jimmy Rollins 6.1 WAR Rollins was a low WAR guy as was Ryan Howard when he won it. That being said I don't know who was voting back then but wow... How did Ryan Howard ever win it over Pujols in 2006 is amazing. It is pretty impressive how low bar was set this year in the NL to be the best. The NL just does not have a Trout/Betts/etc. I don't know how far back one would have to go to find zero NL hitters without a 7+ WAR.

Braun stunk most of September 2008 but had a grand slam walk off in the last home stand and the 8th inning home run against the Cubs in game 162. Braun was great in September 2011, as well as pretty much the whole year. He hit the game winning three run home run in the bottom of the 8th against the Marlins that clinched the division with a few games to play. Also had a walk-off homer against the Rockies in mid-September. No one really remembers that like 2008 because in 2011 we were coasting into the playoffs.

His losses: 8 innings 2 ER 7 innings 1 ER 6 innings 3 ER 6 innings 3 ER 8 innings 2 ER 7 innings 3 ER 8 innings 2 ER 6 innings 1 ER 7 innings 2 ER He has only thrown two games (not including the early May games where something weird must have happened) where it wasn't a QS. They were games 1 and 3 of his season! One was opening day where he went 5 2/3 of one run ball and his third game he gave up 4 runs in 6 innings. Funny enough they won both of those games.

There just hasn't been much love for Yelich. We might get a better picture once writers vote and/or announce how they decided. Looking at Vegas and the limited articles we have seen on the MVP topic Yelich seems to be a bit of a darkhorse. Too bad the Mets suck because I think DeGrom would run away with it if he was on a winning team. That is about the only person I would take over Yelich right now. Personally I think it should go: 1) Yelich 2) DeGrom 3) Goldschmidt 4)Cain 5)Baez Something about picking DeGrom, who pitches under zero pressure, just seems like a big turn off to me.
