  1. Does anyone have an example of how we are going to better spend $8mil? Like a specific example that would be a one year or maybe two year deal? Not to mention Wong is really just a solid all around hitter, not just mashing homers with a 30% K rate. I am not doubting it, but people act like finding an upper .700 OPS with no long term commitment is easy peasy for $8mil or so. Wong would be a big offensive loss and it wouldn't be cheap replacing that offense. The lazy answer is. "Oh, well we can spend it on bullpen help.", so outside of that...how would one hypothetically spend that money? A lot of people mention getting a 3B, so who will even be available?
  2. The plans for the EV charging locations from the federal funding have been announced. These are fast charging stations, not Level 2 stations. Many interstates and areas around Milwaukee/Madison, however some notable Northwoods locations will soon see better EV support. Hopes are they can start construction in the spring. The bolded ones below are some of the major corridors to or in the Northwoods. Interstate 41 Interstate 43 Interstate 90 Interstate 94 Interstate 535 U.S. Highway 8 U.S. Highway 41 U.S. Highway 53 U.S. Highway 151 Part of U.S. Highway 2 Part of U.S. Highway 29 Part of U.S. Highway 51 Part of U.S. Highway 141 The intention is to have a minimum 4 car charger every 50 miles. Not sure what 'part of' really means. May mean they are spaced out much more than that or one part of the highway may be entirely ignored. This is honestly really nice from a tourism standpoint. Places like Minneapolis/Chicago area EVs are becoming very popular and they certainly are a huge chunk of northern Wisconsin tourism. Interesting I-39 is getting completely ignored.
  3. Yah, the Dish is literally still on the roof from a previous owner and the long cable cord still attached to it running down and into the house. I figured I could do exactly as you did and just attach an antenna to the base from the dish. I imagine I could still get AirTV and utilize it for TVs that don't have direct hookups near them? My 'mancave' has two hookups, but neither is anywhere near where my TVs are/will be. For the life of me I have no idea why they put them where they are...just dumb. It wouldn't be that hard to add some, but I have enough wire and walls to mess around with.
  4. I figured out the rain downside of the indoor antenna pretty quick. NBC got a little shotty when it started raining a decent amount, but it still played pretty well. Though...my rain was probably nowhere near what you are referring to. Guessing mine would crap out for NBC at that point. I guess I can't complain regardless. The NBC tower is 55 miles away and my antenna is not pointing that direction at all. It does make me rethink the AirTV concept though if rain is that problematic. Realistically I already have a cable running to the roof for a Dish...so doing a rooftop antenna wouldn't actually be that inconvenient for me to do. That being said my significant other probably needs some dumb channel not on sling so my cheap plan will probably be foiled once she moves in. Eventually I will have to ask her for her non-negotiable....channels.?
  5. The Phillies just got done playing a likely 90+ win team for two games and what is possibly a 100+ win team the Braves. Now they get to go play crummy teams. Honestly, we should not even be in this situation. We could have used bullpen help before we traded Hader...then we traded him and didn't really do much to replace him. The last month the bullpen has really let us down on numerous occasions, some of which they were handed the ball with a decent lead.

  7. The Brewers really blew a golden opportunity yesterday. That was the last of the Phillies playing a team with anything to play for. Now they play total garbage teams and then face the Astros who will have the #1 seed clinched well beforehand and likely resting guys to some degree. HOWEVER: 1) The Brewers schedule is light too 2)The Brewers will be at home, where they have been better. 3) The Phillies, who have been stellar at home, will be entirely on the road. In my opinion, the Brewers blew their chance. Expecting the Phillies to go 5-5 against a bunch of teams that care nothing about winning regular season games and 2/3 are garbage on top of that...good luck. If that is what you are depending on, pack your bag for the offseason.

  9. Well, unless the Braves comeback after their rain delay ends, that should just about wrap up the season.

  11. I got the antenna to work, finally. It just had to be moved like two feet lower on the patio door. Must have been something in the house ticking it off because that two feet made a weak 1 bar signal a full 5 bars. Thanks for explaining AirTV...I saw it, but didn't really understand what exactly it does. That will be way easier than running new cable lines in the basement...not that I won't be tearing up some walls for the bar, but at least it is one less thing to mess around with.
  12. I have gone no cord and no stream for the last 6 months after march madness. However, now that college basketball is back upon us I am itching to go back to streaming. I really just need the $35 Sling that includes ESPN channels because that will cover nearly all Kansas games for me. However, I decided to try an indoor antenna to get CBS (to get the off Kansas game that is national TV there) and to get some of the other local channels for NFL games. It was rather sucky and I just can’t figure out how to get a decent broadcast out of it. Now yes, my expectations are realistic…I don’t expect worlds best signal. However, I literally live a few miles from quite a few of the towers (Wausau) and can see them blinking out my window. I mean, jeez, it can possibly get much better minus climbing the tower and attaching the antenna to it.
  13. Kolton Wong is still ranked #11 for offensive production among 2B per Fangraphs. I don't know, good luck replacing his offense at 2B. A lot of value being able to get a guy at a modest price for just a single year. Not to mention his style of offense helps the Brewers lineup more than just his numbers show on paper.

  15. Home prices lately have been interesting to watch. I have heard some places the market has died and reducing prices has becomes common...but that seems like larger metro areas. In my part of Wisconsin things are still going pretty strong...especially sub $300k. Looking at sales in my town, still most going for $10k+ over asking. I know one person who just listed in their city. Very average and small 2 bedroom house got an offer $10k over asking in a few days and too many showings to even try to count. I don't know, high increases in price and interest rates still haven't stopped people from aggressively shopping. Even inflation hasn't scared people off. People keep clamoring for the moment home prices fall tens of thousands, I just don't see it. Not without a bad recession. People said it two years ago that they would just wait. Well they waited...and now they have even worse prices and high interest rates. I am kinda on the boat where prices might plateau and get stagnant...but not sure I see homes losing 10% or more of their value. If they haven't done it yet...can't imagine it will happen.
  16. It is (no joke) a GFCI outlet on a post.
  17. What exactly is the purpose of Kwik Trip putting in an outlet for EVs...like Level 1 charging outlet? Is it just some dumb concept so they can show up on EV charger maps online? Because even if you decided to spend 30 minutes inside Kwik Trip you are talking like...a few miles of EV charge. They even plop it on the side of the vacuum/tire pump to waste a space if someone actually parks to plug their car in. When I saw kwik trip show up on charging maps I assumed people were randomly plugging into the side of the building.

  20. Would have been cool if his career would have been apart of a competitive stretch instead of his good seasons being on garbage teams. I kinda soured on the guy by the time he left. Between punching...sorry, his wife dropping a suitcase on his hand, complaining multiple ties about never being offered an extension, and then vetoing a trade he came off the wrong way. Pretty sure he also complained about wanting to be on a contender at one point too. None of those things are really a huge deal, but once compounded he kinda seemed like a crybaby in a way.
  21. Usually wise to figure out what they tend to wear at said company. Anything extra is unlikely to impress them.
  22. You are paying for house maintenance as a renter plus more. That’s how people make a living renting out houses. Your housing cost then rises with inflation and you have nothing in the end of it. Yes, a lot of the equity is blown via repairs and improvements. But it is forced savings (if you end up selling) or the potential at very cheap housing cost come retirement.
  23. So you are saying I should take my college ID out of my wallet? The minute you do that, you know someone is going to ask for two forms of photo ID. Gotta hold onto it for those stray chances you hit up a restaurant with 10% apps for college students.

  25. I'm not even sure a lot of folks are waiting for anything. There's a major shifting demographic with more people not having kids at all, getting married later...I think way more people are now just happy to rent perpetually and not deal with any of the burden that can come with a house. I think a lot of people are for sure, social media would certainly confirm many have that thought process. Of course a lot of it might just be jealous people trying to put people down because they bought a house and they can't. Because, you know, the internet.
