  1. When you give up 5 runs before recording your second out, then keep the other team scoreless for the next 5 2/3 innings, that’s some nice resilience. Way to go Israel Puello. He truly earned the Win this day. Too bad Wisconsin (lost) and Nashville (tie game, continuing today) couldn’t hold those leads. 1 hit, 1 walk and 18 strikeouts for Biloxi’s hitters?! That’s rough. Hopefully Valerio and Reetz are back in the lineup tonight.

  3. Jon Singleton has homered on consecutive days, giving AAA Nashville an early 1-0 lead after Ethan Small escaped a first inning, 2-on, nobody out jam.
  4. Carolina Mudcat hitting coach Ken Joyce was ejected in the 5th inning. It's still 6-5 Mudcats.
  5. Darrien Miller doubled, moved to third on an error and scored on a double play ground-out, extending the Rattlers' lead to 7-4 in the 5th inning.
  6. Peoria grabbed two runs back in the 3rd inning on 2 walks, an infield single, HBP, 5 stolen bases and a sacrifice fly (ending Antoine Kelly's night after just 3 innings), then another in the 4th inning on a home run off of RHP Joey Matulovich. It's 6-4 Wisconsin entering the 5th inning.
  7. And now Carlos D. Rodriguez has hit his first home run of the season, growing Wisconsin's lead to 6-1 in the 3rd inning.
  8. Wow! The Mudcats have pushed 6 runs across in the top of the 2nd inning on 4 hits, 2 HBPs and an error to lead 6-5. It's a regular shootout! The surge included doubles by Alberis Ferrer and Arbert Cipion.
  9. Pensacola manufactured a run in the 2nd inning (walk, steal, RBI groundout), while their 19(!)-year old starting pitcher Eury Perez struck out the first 5 Shuckers he faced. Biloxi is down 0-1 in the 3rd inning.
  10. Sweet! Tristan Peters has followed up to hit his first homer of 2022, a 3-run shot to score Carlos D. Rodriguez and Antonio Pinero who had both singled. Wisconsin leads 5-1, still in the 2nd inning.
  11. 2B Ethan Murray has hit his first home run of 2022, driving in Zavier Warren who had singled. The Timber Rattlers lead the Chiefs 2-1 in the second inning.
  12. ...that grand slam was immediately followed up by a solo shot by Yosy Galan. Mudcats are down 0-5.
  13. The Wood Ducks have 4 runs in in the first inning against Carolina, on DH/C Brady Smith's grand slam. Israel Puello has recorded only one out thus far.
  14. Unfortunately, Peoria has scored in the 1st inning on a double, stolen base, walk and passed ball. Rattlers are down 1-0.
  15. The Mudcats have made 4 lineup changes for the 2nd game of today's doubleheader at Down East, including bringing in 2B Zack Raabe and his 10-game on-base streak (reached via walk or hit in every game he's played). RHP Israel Puello tries to re-discover his groove (no runs first game, 3 in his second, 7 in his third): 1 - Arbert Cipion - CF 2 - Jheremy Vargas - 3B 3 - Eduardo Garcia - DH 4 - Micah Bello - RF 5 - Alberis Ferrer - SS 6 - Oswel Leones - LF 7 - Jose Sibrian - C 8 - Zach Raabe - 2B 9 - Luis Silva - 1B X - Israel Puello - P
  16. AA Biloxi aims for a 3rd straight win at home against Pensacola, with LHP Nick Bennett looking to bounce back from his last start (5 runs in 6 innings for a loss). LF(!) Cam Devanney has hit safely in his last 3 starts (5-for-11, 3 doubles):
  17. AAA Nashville needs a win to even this week's series in St. Paul 2-2, turning to dominant LHP Ethan Small (0.49 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 11.8 K/9 in 18 1/3 innings). CF Jonathan Davis leads off for his first game action since April 9th. SS Brice Turang has an 8-game hitting streak:
  18. Hey hey. Watertown High graduate Trevor Tietz earned his 2nd save with a clean 9th inning, which is his 3rd straight scoreless appearance. Mudcats win today's opening affair, with a 7-inning second game on tap.
  19. RHP Trevor Tietz has come in for the 9th inning to try to close it out.
  20. In the top of the 9th inning, Eduardo Garcia hits a sacrifice fly to score Jheremy Vargas, who'd reached on Wood Duck third baseman Derwin Barreto's 3rd throwing error in 2 innings. It's 6-5 Carolina!
  21. Down East has tied it up at 5-5 against Mr. Tripp on a walk, stolen base and base hit. Manager Estevez likely needs to hand the ball to one of his fresh, struggling relievers (Tietz, Rodriguez, Ramey, Brustoski, Zhao - none of whom has pitched since April 24th or has an ERA below 10.00).
  22. Thank you Wood Ducks. They welcomed their new reliever by committing consecutive throwing errors, allowing Eduardo Garcia (singled earlier) to score to cut it to 4-3. Then Hedbert Perez doubled in two unearned runs, which count just as well in the box score. It's 5-4 Mudcats entering the bottom of the 8th inning.
  23. Arbert Cipion scored on a passed ball (after reaching on an infield single) to cut the deficit to 4-2 in the 8th inning. The opposing reliever just exited with an injury in the middle of Jeferson Quero's at-bat.
  24. Down East manufactured a run (single, steal, sac fly) off of Tripp to extend the lead to 4-1. Alberis Ferrer has unfortunately K'd for the 4 time in this game (once on Tuesday, 3 tonight).
  25. Jimenez exits after 6 innings (89 pitches), giving way to RHP Christian Tripp. DH Micah Bello has reached base 3 times (hit-by-pitch, two singles) and will hopefully come up with a chance to play hero in the 9th.
