  1. If anything is for sure is that Stearns and Co. are pulling off a masterful offseason. How much you want to bet Brett Anderson has a higher WAR than Keuchel in 2020?

  3. I love baseball to my core but that is a stupid amount of money for any body to be paid to play professional baseball.
  4. I like the way you are thinking, Ryu and Donaldson would be great adds. Both could probably be had with 3 year deals of similar price. Perhaps 3/74 each, so both for 150? Would be a premium price for sure, perhaps too much risk in reality but better bet than that much for twice as much time for a guy like Wheeler or whatever. Always nice to make deals in pairns, Stearns seems to do that. Yelich and Cain was a 1-2 punch when it was annoucned.
  5. That's Garza/Lohse type of contract/money while a better history. That'd be surprising to me for him to sign such a low contract. In this market I fully expect him to be a 4-72mil deal if we're talking by end of the winter meetings. It gets in to the new year, then more a 4-60. It'd be quite the coup to sign him 3/42 though. I dunno, Kuechel didn't exactly light the NL on fire last year, his FIP was 4.72! For a guy who is turning 32, doesn't get many strikeouts, and did not make the most of his $13million one year prove it deal, I have a hard time seeing how he'd get more than that per year, especially for a 3 or 4 year deal. Seems like his value would have to be lower this offseason than last so 4 year 72mil, no way. He seems more like a 2 year 20 mill candidate.
  6. I'm a huge fan of small town ball so yeah I'm quite unhappy with the new minor league proposal. Unfortunately the more our society moves towards people staring at screens all the time instead of going out into the real world and actually doing stuff, the more baseball is going to concentrate to the top. In other words people in small towns are now more likely to stay at home and watch major league baseball on their big screen tv than go down to their local ball park and watch the real deal. It kind of sucks seeing all the money raked in by MLB these days, meanwhile the kids in the MiLB are basically working below the poverty level. Thats why I love small town ball, kids play with more heart, and it doesn't cost a fortune to take your family to a game.
  7. I've also thought Gausman would be a nice addition. He seems like a prefect candidate for the crew to pick up on a cheap 1 year prove it deal. I think his best value would be had in the bullpen though, he seemed to work really well there last year.
  8. 2 years at 16 mill is surely a premium price to pay for Lyles. Stearns will find better value than that. Despite his 2.45 era with the crew in 2019 his FIP was a full 2 points higher! At a quick glance those numbers suggest that the brewers had excellent defense that was making him look like a stud.
  9. I think Edwards could move through the minors pretty quick, seems like he has potential to be an elite lead off hitter. Overall trade looks good for both teams I think. It's silly to see how good the Padres farm system still is.
  10. And this goes to show why we should be glad Stearns is running the ship... 2020 projections: Hamels: 8-8, 4.14 ERA, 150 IP, 147 K, 1.353 WHIP, 3.4BB9, 8.5K/9, for $18,000,000 Lauer: 8-9, 4.41 ERA, 145 IP, 141 K, 1.386 WHIP, 3.2BB9, 8.8K/9, for $563,500
