Honest; it's hard for me to enjoy playoff baseball if my team is in it. I cannot embrace the stress these days. Just let the regular season go on forever. I'll have that double Scotch now.

The first baseball team I ever loved was the AAA Padres. I lived in San Diego for first, second, and fifth grades.. (Navy doctor dad.) In fifth grade all my friends were big Padre fans, and we knew every player's name. I went to games at the old Westgate Ballpark. I listened to every game on the radio. I have moved on from those days, but I still have a place in my heart for those Padres, and for the city I lived in. Plus I just don't like the ;)$&@/"! Cubs.

But we know what DID happen tonight. That's all I'm talking about.

Plus there was that idiotic "pickoff" throw to nowhere. Did the guy really understand the situation?

Sproat's 9th inning was like someone's flatulence at the table after a good meal: the dinner was great, but you can't ignore that horrible smell.

Is this what you cal "throwing in the towel"? I'd guess you're not putting your best arms out there in a game where you give up (at least) 10 runs at a fairly steady pace.
