Hey, any victory over a St. Louis affiliate makes it a good night regardless of what else happens, so thank you, Sounds. Biloxi's natural letdown after playoff qualifying the night prior was evident. We imagine the Timber Rattler kids are still on a self-fulfilling high as they await Sunday's Championship opener. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Let's begin our brief journey this AM. Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers activated RHP Enoli Paredes from the 60-day IL, ending his Nashville rehab assignment Biloxi Shuckers activated OF Connor Scott from the 7-day injured list. Biloxi Shuckers transferred INF Ben Metzinger to the Development List. NOTE: While not official as of yet, it appears OF Yophery Rodriguez and LHP Mason Molina will be joining Wisconsin from Carolina for the Midwest League Championship Series (as per Chase Ford of @MiLB_Central). Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 5, Memphis (Cardinals) 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Vihuelas Rally, Cap Off Triumph with Capra's Walk-Off Single - Nashville gets first win of series in thrilling 5-4 contest vs. Memphis We'll let the culmination kick things off! Vinny Capra has had a perfectly acceptable 2024 campaign, though surely, he would have liked to have received more than nine MLB at-bats. The 28-year-old has held on to his 40-man spot all season, and if he had an option remaining for 2025, the Brewers might be tempted to play a similar game with him next season. But because this is his final optionable year, he'll likely be pared from the 40-man roster shortly after the World Series. Thanks for your Nashville efforts this year, Vinny, I guarantee that Rick Sweet appreciated you. I am a Journal-Sentinel subscriber, so I'm never quite sure if the J-S allows non-subscribers a single article view, Curt Hogg delved into the Jacob Misiorowski call-up question this morning here. Long story short, the Brewers bullpen is already insanely good! With less than three weeks left in the regular season, the runway Misiorowski would need to adjust to the majors before a rational playoff roster decision could be made on him is shrinking. “Exactly,” Murphy said. “It’s not fair to him. Everybody adjusts to the big leagues. I don’t care what they do at AAA, or they don’t do. There’s an adjustment. Sometimes they come out quickly. Sometimes they’re not ready, and that can be damaging if they’re not." There are more quotes from Murphy in the article (watch Murphy here), and the 40-man roster status complicates things. His OPS is now just .555, but if the Brewers kept Brian Navarreto as a perpetual catcher/coach for the next decade, many would be fine with it. Big contributions Friday. Does Mitch White get re-added to the 40-man roster in October? Who would have thunk it when he was sent down after his failed Brewers stint? If not, at least White has set himself up for multiple suitors this offseason. Has to be tough for Brewer Hicklen seeing Isaac Collins single in his first MLB plate appearance. Hicklen had previously fanned in his four 2022 KC at-bats, so his total MLB count is 0-for-9, eight K's (and an unfortunate attempt at base advancement). Just a thought, but maybe Shane Smith wouldn't mind a brief reassignment down to help Biloxi in next week's playoff? So much more video from this game via the Sounds' "X" location. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Mississippi (Braves) 7, Biloxi 0 Box Score and Game Log Final Friday Night Game of Regular Season Sees Shuckers Fall to M-Braves - McWilliams records perfect inning in Brewers’ organizational debut The Shuckers four hits were all singles, not necessarily "lonely singles" because they also drew seven walks, but the resulting 0-for-6 with RISP and 11 LOB reflect a frustrating evening. Fifteen K's at the Biloxi plate, including Dylan O'Rae with the golden sombrero. It's a 24.1% K rate at AA in 63 games. What to make of the 20-year-old's season? If it weren't for a supply of riches in Appleton talent, O'Rae would likely have been better served without the midseason bump. It's funny (not really) that in order to make all the organizational puzzle pieces fit, players can be impacted in negative as well as positive ways. Goes down as catching a "foul tip" for the K! We wait until Sunday evening for the Timber Rattlers' final home game of 2024, Game One of the Finals. We bridge that with more Nashville action (doubleheader) and Biloxi looks to set things up for Tuesday's playoff opener. Enjoy your day, everyone! He and his agent would play the field and listen to offers of yes, a higher-than-usual minor league salary. The Brewers could keep that decision out of the hands of Ernesto and his agent by adding him to the 40-man roster.
