  1. Game 4 in LA. Brewers up 3-0 in the series. Tie game goes to extras. Yelich is mired in an 0-36 slump. Camera comes back from commercial break and slowly spans the LA crowd before coming to rest on a singular Brewers fan donning the visitor's jersey. He slowly stands to reveal '#9 Uecker' on his back. He starts flapping his arms, slowly. From the dugout, Murphy glances over to Yelich. "Yeli you are hitting for Vaughn" Yelich sends the first pitch he sees deep into the LA night giving Milwaukee the lead. . . The phone rings in the bullpen. An old wily vet stands and starts loosening. From his press box, Clayton Kershaw breaks into a sweat. 15 consecutive 90 mph fastballs later the Dodgers have been eliminated and the Brewers are heading to their first World Series in over 40 years. The camera pans back to the crowd, the fan wearing #9 is gone. After the game Woodruff reveals he has needed surgery this whole time, but held off for one final inning. His career is over.
  2. I don't mind playing the hits. What a sweet walk off to wake up to. Thanks Seattle!
  3. I'm not wanting to go through the game thread so I apologize if this has been said already... but barring crazy things that just about locks up the Cy Young for Miz. I'm not taking for granted that we have the best pitcher in baseball putting together one of the best pitching seasons of all time.
  4. Tip of the cap to Bill and Drew for making him work a little that inning if nothing else.
  5. What a gift. Miz was going to be approaching 20 pitches in the inning.. Acuna saved him.
  6. Is today the day Joey Ortiz' OPS goes above Wild Bill's?
  7. The Germans! Yannic Walther having a sneaky good season for us as well.
  8. Just poking around some rosters it looks like Salas is ready to go in San Diego. I wonder what Campusano would cost us if we do decide to move Bill this off season? I am not great at reading defensive metrics for catchers - how does Luis grade out behind the dish?
  9. Small notation about the Cubs schedule - their biggest consecutive stretch is 13 straight going into September and both Brewers series are in that stretch including the final 3 (in MKE). Could mean nothing and truthfully if they can't get up for that series then the division is over but hopefully we can catch some tired arms if nothing else.
  10. This is random but I was thinking about Yophery today for some reason and I hadn't checked on him all summer. How do we feel about his season? .248/.320/.775. Hasn't hit lefties at all. Looks like April was v.good and then went into a tailspin for about 8 weeks before resurfacing lately. Also, this was my first real check in on both Ragsdale and Frias post trade... they both have sputtered since leaving.
  11. We have put ourselves in a really good spot. More importantly - we have 7 games remaining against them. If we can go 4-3 in those 7 that puts the Cubs in a real tight spot to try and chase us down. Also to note we are 4-2 against them thus far ... so need a minimum 3 of those 7 to take the season series. We should have a lot of favorable paper matchups the rest of the way ... just win those and we should be just fine!
  12. Seattle going to burn some arms leading into the Cubs series. Hopefully none of their 'good' ones.
  13. Great at bat Brice. Start chipping away.
  14. Not letting this year's thread go without including Cy.
