  1. Pat Harrington Jr., the Super on 'One Day at a Time,' Dies at 86 Great early career, too -- Wikipedia
  2. Wayne Rogers, Trapper John McIntyre on 'M*A*S*H*,' dies at 82 Rogers was on "M.A.S.H." from 1972 to 1975, becoming one of many original cast members to leave the wildly popular show that went on until 1983. He was initially considered for Alda's character, but he preferred Trapper's sunnier disposition to Hawkeye's darkly acerbic personality. The characters were essentially equals when the show began, but it increasingly focused on Alda, which was a factor in Rogers' departure.
  3. As a young teenager in the 70's, his Wide World of Sports appearances with the Globetrotters were must-see TV: Harlem Globetrotters legend Meadowlark Lemon, 83, dies My goodness, the life and sights that man got to live and experience through basketball.
  4. Happy 90th -- Wow! 3:15 minute mark for Dick's participation
  5. We say goodbye today to this trade -- Red Sox (11/22/13) -- Acquired LHP Luis Ortega in exchange for RHP Burke Badenhop and replace it with the one atop the initial post in this thread.
  6. Bummer, Card Sharks was awesome, largely in part to Jim.
  7. Kaye Ballard, who appeared in the movie "Freaky Friday" and the TV series "The Mothers-In-Law" and "The Doris Day Show", turned 90 today. http://www.kayeballard.com/ http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/EXID4636/images/kaye_ballard_tv_guide.jpg Ballard on the left (with Mothers-in-Law co-star Eve Arden, who passed in 1990)
  8. This super obscure deal: Mariners (03/24/10) -- Acquired cash in exchange for INF Edgar Trejo Trejo never suited up for a Mariner affiliate, played indy ball in 2011, was idle for 2012/13. has been updated in the initial post of this thread with the Sardinas deal. The Jonathan Villar trade was also updated; you shouldn't have to think hard about which Astros deal it replaced as the most recent.
  9. As far as the Tigers / Brewers go, the last trade before this: Tigers (11/18/15) -- Acquired 2B Javier Betancourt and a PTBNL in exchange for RHP Francisco Rodriguez was this: Tigers (07/01/07) -- Acquired LHP Chris Cody in exchange for RHP Jose Capellan
  10. Ed Asner is 86 today, all 5'7" of him! http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/theregularshow/images/1/10/InfoboxEdAsner.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140820090535
  11. Happy 96th birthday to the judge who started it all -- The People's Court's Joseph Wapner! http://tvseriesfinale.com/assets/peoplescourt09a.jpg Wow -- 96!
  12. We say goodbye (at age 96!) to Happy Days / Odd Couple / Weezer's "Buddy Holly" video icon Al Molinaro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZVvOSszUXw
  13. We've now lost both Mom's from the Parent Trap movies, Natasha Richardson's ski accident so sad in '09.
  14. There is a wondrous number of interviews, both with stars living and since passed, via the Archive of American Television at http://www.emmytvlegends.org/interviews/all-interviewees Each is catalogued with a "highlight" section, but in many cases, full length interviews, some extending several hours, can be found. Dick Van Patten (Eight is Enough), Russell Johnson (Gilligan's Island) as recent examples, and so many others we've highlighted in this thread, are among them. Incredibly addicting if you have the interest and the time.
  15. Brewers now tell us they accepted cash in the Hunter Morris deal, not a PTBNL.
  16. Hey, the Pirates owe us a player! Hope the initial list was solid, because this wasn't.
  17. Also Martin Milner from Adam-12 at 83 and Judy Carne of Laugh-In, 76. Learned that Carne suffered from several of life's hardships, many of them brought upon via addiction.
  18. What a tough week for this fan. First Batgirl, and now Wrangler Jane from F Troop, Melody Patterson. In January 2008, I did one of our "Google Won't Save You" mystery threads on Melody, but the image links didn't stay active. Just 66, darn it.
  19. Tonight's trade of LH reliever Neal Cotts to the Twins bumps this deal off the initial post in this thread, which details the last trade with all 29 other MLB teams. Twins (06/02/11) -- Acquired cash in exchange for OF Jeremy Reed
  20. Many will remember the last trades prior to this week with the Cardinals and Orioles, but if you knew that Astros deal -- wait, who am I kidding... Cardinals (08/30/13) -- Acquired a player to be named (RHP Michael Blazek) in exchange for RHP John Axford Orioles (07/23/13) -- Acquired 3B Nicky Delmonico in exchange for RHP Francisco Rodriguez Astros (09/11/07) -- Acquired cash in exchange for RHP Dennis Sarfate
  21. Initial post bumped for the Aramis Ramirez trade, moving the Hunter Morris / PTBNL trade off the board. So two of the last three Brewer trades have been with Pittsburgh, with only the minor league deal sending RHP Chris Leroux to the Phillies for cash in between.
  22. Eight Is Enough's Dick Van Patten, gone at 86. One of the better comb-overs, even back in the day. Eight Is Enough was right in our families' TV wheelhouse, Elizabeth was one of my several teenage TV crushes, but that's not the point, here. The other "Dick Van", Van Dyke, still hanging in there at 89, although the trusted periodicals in my grocery store line indicate he may not be doing so well, understandably at that age. (Van Dyke did just guest-star on a recent episode of "The Middle", with 83-year-old brother Jerry.)
