  1. I seriously doubt the Brewers go after any free agents unless they're cheap. Losing Bally Sports is a loss of revenue,... $31 mil to be exact. MLB will pick up the broadcasts but the money is waaaaay less than the Bally money. Attanasio counts on broadcast money for roughly 1/3rd of his team salaries. He uses MLB broadcast revenue,... whatever he gets for luxury tax sharing,... and broadcast revenue. And now with Hoskins picking up his option that's another $18 mil. I can't see Milw spending much more than the $130 mil they dished out in 2024. The MLB needs a salary cap.
  2. Another point to consider when talking Free Agents,... the switch from BALLY to MLB TV will result in much lower TV broadcast rights revenue. I was looking at how it worked for the Padres and it appears the team gets a cut of the streaming and cable rights,... but it's based on subscribers. It could affect the Brewers broadcast revenue by 30% or more. And Broadcast revenue has been about 25% of Attanasio's annual salary budget. Ouch !! I can see a big ticket price increase on the horizon,..... or find a new corporate sponsorship. They have to find $15-20 mil somewhere.
  3. Santana on a 1 year deal around 5 or 6 mil/yr would be complementary to the team roster. He played well as a Brewer. ,747 OPS,... not shabby. Granted he turns 38,... but his skill set at first base can't be ignored.
  4. If these 2 GM's can find a 3rd team to participate,.... maybe it happens. The Brewers don't want Polanco's contract. If money wasn't an issue the Brewers would be giving Burnes a contract. Right? Find another team dying for a solid middle fielder,... and see if we can load up on controllable prospects. It's the only way Milwaukee can stay inside their revenue and team salary constraints and still be competitive. The more pitching prospects the better.
  5. Hiura started showing some consistency at the plate when they brought him back up to the big league team the last part of the 2022 season. If he can keep hitting he'll be on the big league roster. True he's out of options,... but I can't see him getting picked up if he is DFA'ed. It's still possible he's packaged in a trade. Whether he's on the roster or not,... it doesn't make a big difference. We know what he can do in the field,.. it's all about hitting with some consistency for Keston.
  6. To be perfectly honest,.. I didn't understand the Wong trade for Winker and Toro. Maybe Toro has got something to contribute,.. but Winker didn't look so good last year and he's getting roughly the same money that was due Wong. What was the benefit,.. What did the Brewers gain ? A Prayer Winker can hit again ?
