  1. You have to think Braun got mixed up on how many outs there were or thought it was gone. That ball was in the air long enough for him to score.
  2. Wow the third base coach really gave a run away there. Hart would have scored easily. You can't give away runs like that against Zambrano.
  3. When you watch this team play today, both on offense and defense, you have to wonder what a miracle it is they made the playoffs. They are sooo slump prone and can look so easy to pitch to and beat. I hope we don't get no hit
  4. Man this is just an ugly inning, the Weeks error was much worse but Cameron is supposed to money on plays like that. uggh
  5. Not that I disagree our bullpan sucks but the pathetic hitting with RISP has been a bigger problem than the bullpen IMO. Thank god it is just random variance and we can expect a surge with RISP any time now.
  6. It's been like that all year, we just hit enough homers and win enough one runners to cover it. But it has been our achilles heal and at this moment seems to be bringing us down.
  7. I doubt this was the case here since it was a nice rebound by the SS, but I have been watching the opponents announcers a lot lately and there have been a lot of comments about lollygagging jogs down to first by the Brewers that have been pointed out. Sort of a fundemental flaw that has bugged me all year about the Brewers but doesn't seem to be addressed by our manager.
  8. He is here to extend the misery of us Brewer fans, I was wondering what would finally bring us down this year. Oh well, at least it is football season, I usually stop paying attention to the Brewers at this time anyway so Gagne is just in time. Yost will be let go after the season, that is a bright side.
  9. What's funny is how so many of us thought "what do we have to lose?" when we signed Gagne. The thinking being if he blows up it is only a one year deal. Wow. OK it's not funny it's really very sad.
  10. I have to say it, how is a pitcher with a 6 and half ERA still pitching for a playoff contender down the stretch? I have seen nothing from Gagne all year except the occasional luck that any pitcher gets now and then. Again and again he gets hammered when he goes out there and we just put him out there in a 2-1 game that we HAVE to win. It's politics, no reason he should be on the team except to cover the GM's ass for signing him and it may cost us the playoffs.
  11. Wow it sure has been hidden by our starters but out bullpen really sucks, I had little hope we could hold this one 2-1. They really may as well release Gagne, he has been consistently bad throughout the year.
  12. Yeah I know, I just can't seem to shake the old "the brewers will let us down in the end" feeling. Games like this always throw me into a negative funk, if the Cards would have blows us out I would have shrugged it off. Totally irrational on my part but it comes with so many uears of losing. Heck we may even still win this one.
  13. Man you could just feel this game getting away the last few innings, getting out of that bases laoded jam was just a repreive. The cards woke up just in time.
  14. I'm not trying to harp on you here I really am not but what you are really seeing is a slow start that takes forever to fix. Fielder has an OPS of .917 since June 2nd and he has been pretty steady over that timeframe. He just had a pretty mediocre April/May and hasn't been able to make up for it quite yet. I agree he hasn't had the year I expected out of him but he has hardly been bad either.I know he had a bad start but even the OPS since June is well below his numbers last year. Again he is good but not great, just disappointing for me after the 50 homer, 1.000+ OPS, runner up MVP season he had last year. Plus when he came up I thought he would be a much better contact hitter than he has become.
  15. I agree he hasn't had the year I expected out of him but he has hardly been bad either. But that OPS since June is still well below the 1.000 something he did last year. We hoped we had one of those special players and this year he has been another one of those just good ones. Again probably something for a regular thread not a game thread. He has actually done well tonight, the strikeout set me off is all. I never said he was bad, but coming out of the minors I expected a better contact hitter than he has become, maybe I was mislead.
  16. Yeah I knew the stat guys would be all over me, thats why I said his numbers were good, just not the player I was hoping for and I would guess some would agree. At least he walks alot. I am disappointed and it is near september, that is all I am saying.
  17. Maybe not an comment for the in game but Prince is really having a disappointing season. I don't feel confident at all when he comes up with RISP even against RH. Just too easy to pitch to, a sucker for breaking stuff outside and high fast stuff. I know his numbers are still good but I wouldn't cry if the traded him for a good return.
  18. Yeah honestly maybe it's the same for all teams but I just notice it with the Brewers more but they seem to really stink up golden oppotunities alot. Thank god Fielder got him in. Sheets is looking very shakey again tonight. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  19. In fairness to counsell he did make the pitcher throw 8-9 pitches in his out. That is an underated part of guys like Counsell and Kendalls, guys like Hart and Braun are hackers who will make quick outs, you need some guys to offset them to get to the opponents bullpen.
  20. Anyone get the feeling this one just wasn't meant to be? Another double play...
  21. Just a guess but he had his heart set on ball 4 and only swung when it was too late. Pathetic, they can't let this one get away today. Sabathia against the Pirates who are throwing out another soft tossing lefty. You just can't lose this one.
  22. OK The Cards can start their inevitable collapse anytime now. Sheesh, Larussa is getting an amazing amount of wins out of that team, he could win 100 games with this Brewer team. I think it will take 93 wins to get this done and it is at the point where I feel like a sweep of the Pirates this weekend is a must. Yes I am concerned about that 7 game Philly/Cubs swing. Our pitching can get it done but I fear a potential slump by our hitters may bring us down. Thank god Braun is back.
  23. What's crazy is it seems to me Ricky always seems to watch strike one go down the middle of the plate. It sounds like the stats back that up so the only thing I can think is this writer doesn't watch the games and thinks people who strike out a lot always do so because they are overly agressive. In fact it seems like a lot of our hitters take good pitches and then swing at bad ones once behind. It reminds of what a scout said after we picked up CC, something along the lines of "that is a line up you can still pitch to", I took it as meaning our hitters are predictable, don't make mistakes and you will be OK.
  24. Well CC gets the extra day off this week and I imagine he lobbied to go back out there, I doubt Yost made him do it. But not a good thing letting him throw that many no matter how you look at it, unless you consider it getting our money and prospects worth out of him.
  25. It looked like he hurt it 2 pitches before that last swing. Damn, I hope he is alright but clearly he/they rushed it if he reinjured it.
