  1. It certainly seemed like Misiorowski was receiving congratulations when he was taken out of the game. Certainly not your typical departure for a pitcher. I wonder if something is imminent here…
  2. #14 belongs to Vogey
  3. 1. Corbin Burnes - Made quick work out of the minors. Doing well in his transition to the bullpen. Best SP prospect for the Brewers since Gallardo. 2. Keston Hiura - Production has slowed a little at AA, but did you notice he has only DH'd twice for Biloxi? 3. Brice Turang - More walks than strikeouts. Quickly moved to Helena which probably means A ball next year as a 19 year old. 4. Tristen Lutz - Is doing the 19 year old A Ball thing now. Solid numbers that look better considering how young he is. 5. Corey Ray - Great power, great speed. Strikeouts too much. Needs more time. 6. Zack Brown - Breakout year. AFL candidate. 7. Lucas Erceg - One of few LH prospects in the upper levels of the Brewers system. Solid year so far. 8. Mauracio Dubon - A middle IF of Hiura and Dubon will be fun at AAA next year. 9. Jacob Nottingham - Has improved his stock significantly this year, hit well at AAA and improved defensively per reports. 10. Payton Henry - Good hitting catcher that has thrown out 46% of base stealers. 11. Trey Supak - Another SP who has taken a step forward. Just turned 22. 12. Marcos Diplan - If he improved his command he would be ranked a lot higher. 13. Aaron Ashby - Moved quickly to Wisconsin and has done well. 14. Troy Stokes Jr. - Similar to Corey Ray but not as high a ceiling, strike outs a lot. Probably LF only. 15. Quintin Torres Costa - Righties are hitting .141 against him, Lefties are at .172. 54 SOs, 17 walks in 42 innings. 16. Caden Lemons - Prediction - Caden Lemons joins Helena in the next 2 weeks. 17. Micah Bello - Has transitioned to pro ball well. Hitting . 270, 15 walks in 115 ABs. Some power. 18. Carlos Rodriguez - Best hitter on DSL team. #28 ranked international signing from 2017. Inked for 1.355 million. 19. Je'von Ward - Solid start in Helena. Will see Wisconsin at 19 next year. 20. Joe Gray - Has not hit well in his Arizona Brewer debut season. Needs time. 21. Adrian Houser - Future bullpen arm, hard to rank the high floor players among high ceiling guys. 22. Nathan Kirby - Encouraging return from multiple surgeries. Pitch count is up to 70. 23. Cody Ponce - Probably destined for the bullpen, does he get added to the 40? My guess is no. 24. Jake Gatewood - Not sure where he would have ranked without the injury. Did take a step forward this year. 25. Justin Jarvis - Needs another year in Arizona, similar to Caden Lemons from last year. 26. Trent Grisham - 3rd disappointing season in a row.
  4. I said SOME positive starts, not stats. He did have a run of solid starts a couple of weeks ago, around the time time the article was written. Not sure why you are looking to differ, we seem to making the same point that the Brewers should stay away from Zimmermann.
  5. After seeing some positive starts from Zimmermann lately I thought he would be a great fit for the Brewers. I googled the idea and ran across an article from Bless You Boys and changed my mind. Cliff Notes: Zimmermann is owed approximately $60 million over the course of the next 2 and 1/3 years. He has a chronic neck issue that requires injections and was on the DL this year with a shoulder issue. And his velocity has decreased this year. Hard Pass. https://www.blessyouboys.com/2018/7/6/17543414/mlb-trade-rumors-jordan-zimmermann-detroit-tigers-nope-not-happening
  6. What trades in recent history are similar to trading Machado? I have tried to look at recent years and can't find much. Most trades that netted a big haul of prospects were for players that were not rentals or SP. The two best comparisons I can think of are JD Martinez - 2017 and Yoenis Cespedes - 2015. Neither deal had a prospect as good as Hiura or Burnes. I saw one article that suggested the Jason Heyward to St. Louis deal as a comparison, but that was for a full year. Edited to spell Hiura correctly.
  7. 1. Brinson 2. Hader 3. Woodruff 4. Ortiz 5. Ray 6. Burnes 7. Hiura 8. Dubon 9. Peralta 10. Phillips 11. M.Harrison 12. Clark 13. Diaz 14. Gatewood 15. Lutz 16. Erceg 17. Stokes 18. Nottingham 19. Bickford 20. Medioros 21. M. Diplan 22. Ponce 23. Supak 24. Feliciano 25. Yamamoto 26. Derby
  8. AT - your comments about the development of players in the lower minors got me thinking about the 2014 draft again. I big part of the Brewers rebuild will hinge on this draft. Draft Picks from 2014 - All high schoolers Kodi Medeiros -12th overall Jacob Gatewood - 41 Monte Harrison - 50 Isan Diaz - 70 Trey Supak - 73 Troy Stokes - 116 Jordan Yamomoto - overslot late round guy *Cy Sneed traded for Villar
  9. My prediction is that the PTBNL is eligible for the Rule 5 draft. The Brewers will have a choice of players that were not selected in the Rule 5 draft from the Tigers. I'll throw out two names, Josh Turley and Johan Belasario.
  10. The referenced text from the Tigers article makes no sense. The player the Brewers are getting as the PTBNL is NOT on the 40 man roster of the Tigers. If the player was on the Tigers 40 but the Brewers did not want the player on their 40, they would need to expose the player to waivers. In this scenario the Brewers would assume the risk. The opposite would be true if the player was not on the Tigers 40. If that player is taken by another team during the Rule 5 draft, the Brewers get a different player who does not need to be on the 40 man roster. I have been wrong many times before, can someone explain to me what I am missing? Who are the Tigers best players not being added to their 40? That is where I would focus my speculation.
  11. I'm not sure what player is Betancourt's best comparison, but he Edgardo Alfonzo's nephew. Bloodlines!
  12. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Brett Phillips 3. Trent Clark 4. Jorge Lopez 5. Michael Reed 6. Gilbert Lara 7. Josh Hader 8. Devin Williams 9. Tyrone Taylor 10. Zach Davies 11. Kodi Medeiros 12. Clint Coulter 13. Jake Gatewood 14. Cody Ponce 15. Monte Harrison 16. Adrian Houser 17. Victor Roache 18. Demi Orimoloye 19. Marcos Diplan 20. Nathan Kirby 21. Yadiel Rivera 22. Brandon Woodruff 23. Franly Mallen 24. Joantgal Segovia 25. Cy Sneed
  13. Roache, Phillips, Reed, Taylor, Coulter That's a lot of outfielders. I guess that's a good problem to have? Not sure how you prioritize that list. How about Devin Williams as a dark horse candidate? Wang?
  14. Williams has as much potential as any SP in the Brewers system. His hits allowed are down and his still striking out a batter an inning. The Brewers are taking it easy with innings, 34 in 2013, 68 last year, he is at 78 now. We should be excited that a kid like him is the #10 prospect in the system. I would think he will move up the rankings as he moves up the system.
  15. Alex Rios in 2009. Wasn't that some closer going to or from San Diego once, too, a number of years prior to Alex Rios? I was thinking it was Randy Myers, but checking baseball-reference.com, it was someone else. Your initial thought was correct, per wikipedia. The Padres' 1998 waiver claim of Myers is considered one of the biggest blunders in the history of the waiver wire. The Padres did not want Myers, mostly because of the $12 million and two additional years remaining on his contract as well as the fact that they already had an established closer in Trevor Hoffman, but placed a waiver claim in order to prevent him from going to the rival Atlanta Braves. They expected the Blue Jays to rescind their waiver claim, but the Blue Jays instead allowed the waiver claim to go through, leaving them responsible for the rest of his contract.
  16. Sandy A: Doug, we are willing to trade Prospect X for Gerrado Parra. Doug: You should have took the deal last week. I've got stronger offers now. If you were to include Player Y, then we could have a deal. Sandy A. (whispers to Ast. GM): For that player, we might be able to get Upton. I am going to stall with the Brewers and see if we can get Upton before making a trade with Brewers. Sandy A: We'll think about it Doug, will you give us a call if you are getting close to deal somewhere else? Doug: Maybe. This is what I think is happening right now with the Brewers, Padres, and Mets.
  17. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Trent Clark 3. Clint Coulter 4. Gilbert Lara 5. Michael Reed 6. Kodi Medeiros 7. Jorge Lopez 8. Devin Williams 9. Tyrone Taylor 10. Nathan Kirby 11. Cody Ponce 12. Jacob Gatewood 13. Monte Harrison 14. Marcos Diplan 15. Tyler Cravy 16. Tyler Wagner 17. Yadiel Rivera 18. Victor Roache 19. Jorge Ortega 20. Franly Mallen 21. Troy Stokes 22. David Denson 23. Chris McFarland 24. Brooks Hall 25. Hobbs Johnson 26. Carlos Leal 27. Cy Sneed 29. Demi Oroloye 30. Tyrone Perry If I had to put Jungmann on this list, I really don't know where to put him. Two months ago I would have put him in the 10-15 range. Now, somewhere in the top 10. I'll say 8. Also, I don't know where to put relief pitchers. Lastly, I am sure I forgot someone.
  18. I think we Brewer fans should be excited about Lopez. He probably isn't a top 100 prospect, but I think he could be in the honorable mention category. The Brewers seem to have waves of prospects coming for the first time in a while. Jungmann, Cravy, and Wagner will get their chances first. Then Lopez. And Medeiros, Williams, Ortega, Ponce, and Kirby next, all are a couple years away and all likely won't make it, but every night there seems to be 2 names on the probable SP list that make me click that box score before others. Also, I know I am missing some good prospects in the above paragraph. I like Lopez because he has had success at AA. Medeiros is doing nice things at A ball, but Lopez is doing at AA. Using John Sickels grading, Lopez is probably a B type prospect while Medeiros might be more more of a B+/A- guy with a higher risk factor, although that is starting to fade with every good outing.
  19. 1. Lopez 2. Williams 3. Medeiros 4. Jungmann 5. Wagner 6. Cravy 7. Thornburg Lopez is our best SP prospect right now. I put them in two different tiers, young prospects and old prospects. Jungmann, Wagner, and company might end up as bottom of the roster types but I would surprised if any if them were signed to a post arbitration contract. If you want to argue Williams or Mederios ahead of Lopez, I think you could be right but, imo, Lopez is #1.
  20. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Clint Coulter 3. Tyrone Taylor 4. Jorge Lopez 5. Kodi Medeiros 6. Monte Harrison 7. Gilbert Yara 8. Jacob Gatewood 9. Devin Williams 10. Ariel Pena 11. Jason Rogers 12. Tyler Wagner 13. Jed Bradley 14. Brandon Diaz 15. Victor Roache 16. Taylor Williams 17. Wei-Chung Wang 18. Chris Mcfarland 19. David Denson 20. Sthervin Matos 21. David Goforth 22. Drew Gagnon 23. Hobbs Johnson 24. Taylor Jungman 25. Tucker Neuhaus
  21. Brad Mills has been traded/sold to the A's for cash.
  22. Selection #22- Los Angeles Dodgers Casey Gillaspie - 1B Wichita State
  23. Can I hijack this thread to compare Suter and Cravy to Jorge Lopez? I posted a top 20 list in the other thread and was surprised that I am much higher than most on Lopez. Lopez is a full 3 years younger and only 1 level behind. I like all 3 of these pitchers but Lopez is missing bats and is on pace to be AA at age 22. Anyone have a scouting report on Lopez? I have read different reports that he throws a plus curve and other places where they mention a good feel for a change up. If both of these are true than he could be the Brewers best pitching prospect not named Nelson.
  24. 1. Jimmy Nelson 2. Clint Coulter 3. Tyrone Taylor 4. Orlando Arcia 5. Mitch Haniger 6. Devin Williams 7. Jorge Lopez 8. Taylor Jungman 9. Jed Bradley 10. Tucker Neuhaus 11. Victor Roache 12. Ariel Pena 13. Michael Reed 14. Taylor Williams 15. Brent Suter 16. Hobbs Johnson 17. Tyler Cravy 18. David Denson 19. Shawn Zarraga 20. Omar Garcia 21. Chris McFarland 22. Michael Ratteree 23. Tyler Wagner
  25. Selection #9-- Toronto Blue Jays Grant Holmes, RHP, Conway, SC High School The Blue Jays seem to like high school pitching and Holmes looks to be the highest rated HS pitcher left at this point.
