Yelich isn’t leaving $75MM on the table so we’re stuck with him. He won’t retire. Until Attanasio decides he wants to actually spend some real money for a bat (he can but he won’t), this contract is going to continue to be an albatross.
I don’t want to hear sh*t about the payroll anymore. Payroll wasn’t an issue three months ago when they chased Yamamoto in the 1st inning, and tonight the approaches have been unworthy of a winning team, much less at 97-win one. It’s okay to admit they’ve **** the bed last two games.
Embarrassing display of hitting now for two straight games. Zero traffic on the bases and no one in scoring position the entire night. Nothing changed in their approach from yesterday to today which is the most damning thing of all.
When the guy consuming 20% of the payroll is solely a DH who hasn’t hit in a month, you have zero chance of beating the Dodgers. And he has three years left on his contract.
So other than the fact that Frelick and Turang are our best base stealers, Yamamoto has a slow delivery to the plate, and the Brewers haven’t scored more than three runs in a game in five straight games, you make a really good point.
I’m glad we’ve had Frelick on twice and Turang once without attempting to steal a base. So swing for the fences every pitch without applying pressure once we actually get on base.
