  1. Kurkjian just said there is no way the Brewers allow K Rod to finish 55 games. Will close some, however. If it comes down to it, and he hits the 55, it will be worth it if the Brewers make the playoffs. Does that 55 games include the playoffs?
  2. That is too bad. I know he was also the Voice of NFL Films, but when I heard his voice, I just always thought of baseball. He will be missed.
  3. Picked up a Mike Rivera retro BP jersey from the '06 season at last year's sale. It was a little big for me, but I figured he was one of the few jerseys available at $75 that had a shot to be on the '08 roster. I wore that thing to a bunch of games and usually was asked if it was a Sheffield or Sexson jersey. I think it may have been the only Rivera jersey worn to MP last season.

  5. The amount of handwringing over this show is unbelievable. Yah, there were some morons in the crowd, but it didn't really ruin the show for me. I thought the show lost a ton of momentum after the encore break, but that had more to do with political speaches. I thought it was a great show. Sometimes was a great opener. Man of the Hour is a good song and i really enjoyed the cover of Millworker. I was also impressed with Liam Finn. He walked passed me after the show and appeared to be about 5 feet tall. In terms of people concerned that PJ will never come back to Milwaukee, I don't think that is a very valid worry. I have it on pretty good sources that the band loves Alpine. I don't think something that might have happenbed at an Eddie solo show would stop them from playing Alpine. Plus, in regards to the message board linked above, that place is insane. People are so over dramatic there. I am a member of the fan club and check that thing when concert tickets go on sale. People blow everything out of proportion there. I would take what you read with a grain of salt.
  6. I know everybody reaches their boiling point at some point, but this is far from a new thing. When I was little, I was a member of the Brewers/Pepsi Fan Club. It's just part of the deal. The only ad in Miller Park that bothers me is the Waste Management ad. I don't have any feelings about the company, but is that the appropriate ad to place right above the Brewers' bullpen?
  7. Sonic is pretty nasty in my book. In the 4 years I lived in Kansas City, I ate there once and it wa on the lower end of the fast food scale. There are a ton of them in KC and there always seemed to only be about 2 or 3 cars at them every time I went by.
  8. I think what the first poster is describing is the retro night BP jerseys. I am pretty sure they sell these at Miller Park, but you will be paying a premium on anything you purchase there. I was able to pick up one of these at the Brewers clubhouse sale this off season. I picked up Mike Rivera's jersey from 2006. As he is #11, I have recieved several "Nice Sheffield jersey" quotes directed my way.
  9. I got tickets through the fan club. Hopefully the are solid seats like they are for regular PJ shows. From what I heard, 500 seats were set aside for the fan club. Price was pretty steep. Would rather see the entire band for that much, but saw them last month at Madison Square garden. Great show. Eddie solo should be interesting.
  10. The title of The Who song is "Baba O'Riley", not Teenage Wasteland.
  11. I moved out of KC 2 years ago, but I believe the Stroud's on the south side has recently moved. If you are a fan of college basketball, I would highly suggest going to the College Basketball HoF located adjacent to the Sprint Center downtown. It just opened last fall. I went there last November and had a great time. The exhibits are not all that great, but it is very interactive. They have a court you can play on and have several games you can play. 3 point contest, shooting FTs with a loud crowd behind the basket, and others. If you go, prepare to sweat. When I lived there, on Saturday's I would catch lunch at an excellent little butcher shop on Ward Parkway south of 75th street. They had a grill set up in the parking lot and had a bunch of options, but the BBQ chicken was awesome. I would also suggest JackStack as an eating option. They have 3 locations. There is a pretty cool indoor go-kart place in Olathe where the cars reach 50 mph. There are also several nice golf courses in the area. I liked Deer Creek in Overland Park. It plays like U Ridge in Madison and I liked it b/c I could walk there! Avoid Westport at all costs. Seriously, people suggest it, but there is nothing there and limited eating options. If you are looking for a good local bar sceen where you don't have to dress up and can wear shorts and a t-shirt, try the waldo/Brookside area. Plenty of great bars in that area. If you like to dress up to go out, try the Plaza. Note there is a complete lack of things to do around Kauffman/Arrowhead, unless you like hanging out at Taco Bell.
  12. I have not read anything today and didn't see anything in my quick scan of the in-game thread but was there any reason Braun was pinch hit for in the 9th inning yesterday? I was trying to figure out if he maybe hurt himself during his diving attempt to catch Overbay's triple. Didn't see him on the top step of the dugout during the bottom of the 8th or the 9th. I wonder if it was just a precaution.

  14. I remember playing against Agustine's kid (with Jerry as the coach) when I was in high school. This was summer ball and I played for a Racine Legion team and they were called somethng like "Southeast" That team was a group a kids a year youger than my team, but they were pretty good. Might have played them in a Wilson Park Tourney or something like that.
  15. As many of you probably know, the new Twins stadium is being constructed on the edge of downtown Minneapolis, across I-394 from the Target Center. This is the opposite side of downtown from the Dome, so most parking structures that are used for dome events will not be used for the new stadium. The new stadium will also have a light rail stop at the front gate. Anyhow, I did a lot of work on the planning of the new stadium, and as many have talked about, downtown parkign is going to be a huge hassle for any games that start at 6 or earlier during the week. Since it will be an open air stadium, I would imagine they would have several 6 pm starts in the spring and fall to avoid the cold as much as possible. Anyhow, there are 4 huge parking structures by the new stadium. However, for early games, they would not be able to hold all the cars for the game. It could get ugly. The same thing would happen in downtown Milwaukee. A downtown stadium would have been neat, but I think Miller Park is fine where it is.
