  1. 4-6-3... BALLGAME!!! Only fitting it ended Weeks to Hardy to Fielder. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. Re: 9/29/05 Reds (Milton) @ Crew (Glover) 6:35 CST Starts at 1:05. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  3. Maybe Hall hasn't gotten a fair shake to be a starter because up until this year he sucked. I'm glad he has improved in both offense and defense, and he has been rewarded with extra at-bats and starts because of this. To be honest, before this year I'm not sure he was going to be a part of next year's team, but now I expect he is. As a side note, I do not see any evidence of this thread being racist, but if I see people asking for Hall to be replaced by Durrington at third.....
  4. Thanks Brett. The stat is interesting, I doubt it means much. BIll James often looks to find a way to quantify things that have only been looked at in a qualitative way. Innovative, yes. But it's clearly a work in progress. I'm sure there's a handful of reasons the stats turn out the way they do, but there's too many factors that can be tossed in to skew the results. Maybe having 2 lefties in the rotation skews the number of balls he gets to because less are being hit to him. Or it's hard to pull the ball on alot of our hard throwers. Or maybe the wind was blowing just right. I like reading Bill James, and alot of what he says makes sense, but even he admits some of the new ways to quantify ability are still rough. Especially when you look at defense.
  5. In an article about "chic" baseball statistics in USA Today, rookie J.J. Hardy was ranked as having the least range among major-league shortstops I just scrolled through 6 pages and no one posted/linked the USA today article? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  6. Glad Miller got a double, that almost makes up for his hands-like-frying-pans tonight.
  7. That walk to Lo should start a small debate.
  8. What pitches does Helling have? All i've seen is a fastball and curve, having trouble locating both.
  9. You missed my point, that being that there aren't 2-inning closers anymore. Of course you pinch hit Turnbow if his spot is up.
  10. I'd like to see him able to work 2 innings, where are the 2 inning closers? Wait, where are the closers period? hehe
  11. Turnbow in the 9th if we're tied? I always thought bring him in in a tie at home, not on the road.
  12. No one's actually able to watch the game on TV, so we're all listening to Uecker. The Uecker factor is simply that every brewer out is on an incredibly hard hit ball, about 10% of the times he says "Get up, get up..." result in homers, only half make the warning track. This can be attributed to a couple things. One would say "The old-time radio announcers would have to make every play very exciting to promote the game. They even had to simulate the crack of the bat. It's the sign of a great announcer." Others would say Ueck is losing it and slowly evolving to Harry Carey. Personally, I'd just like to be told what's really happening in the game. Or televise all the games so i can make my own judgements.
  13. Runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs....
  14. Well, Cory looked good on that ball, Iv'e seen Pods pull up on the same ball. Nice webgem Carlos.
  15. Quick, Bill James worshippers, where does he rank Ted? I vote him in.
