Can we get any confirmation on Yount? I saw Brian said it was reported on Fox but then someone else said that's not true afterward.
I got it from a very reliable source when I posted it earlier this afternoon

"In Ned's defense, it's not his fault that we didn't hit and we didn't pitch the last two weeks," shortstop J.J. Hardy said on an off-day interrupted by news that Yost had been dismissed from his role as Brewers manager.

Looks like JJ said it. Link

Doesn't sound like JJ or Counsell are to happy about the move.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of Yost; it will soon see the end of the Tailspin.

As much as I appreciate this post, we all know how that movie ended. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif

Another quote from Hardy and he had quite a few good ones, some positive and some negative...

"Whatever he did, I feel like a lot of players were thinking that way, that it was a nervous reaction. I honestly think he did a lot better this year than last year, but it got to the point with some players that they weren't even looking for the good."

That reeks of players that did not trust their coach's decisions. Again, a baseball manager doesn't do a whole lot but the couple choices that make throughout the course of the game should be sound ones with solid backing.

Melvin earlier in the press conference said that he nor Ned had the answers as to why the Brewers were struggling. Later he said that Ned admitted to him that he didn't know how to fix the problems so they haf to go in a different direction.

Mark saying the reasons were there for the firing.

It certainly seems like it was Mark's choice more than Doug's.

Doesn't matter to me, Yost is a bad manager so getting rid of him isn't a bad thing.

Under Yost, a veritable Captain Queeg in the dugout, the tension was unbearable - and toxic for a team featuring so many prominent young players.

This goes back to last season, when the Brewers pulled a similar collapse at a similar point in September. At one point, Yost told the players that jobs - his and his coaches' - were at stake. Not the right message.

Wow.

I was shocked when I heard the breaking news on 620 while sitting in my cube at work. It was a little after 2pm and I was typing an email and then BOOM! I couldn't believe what I heard. If this works, it would be amazing.

Unless Mark A just lied and completely threw Melvin under the bus, it sounds like it was ultimately Melvin's decision when he described his role as essentially to possibly 'veto' Melvin's decisions....but never 'make' the decisions.
