I might have missed something before on this, but I've read he's now in the Mexican League waiting to go to Japan. He had an opt out agreement with Texas. I presume this is true. I just don't understand why he isn't considered for the Brewers SS job or at least as a reserve.

Probably because he put up 281/309/414/723 last year and 279/309/446/754 this year at AAA, and his prior MLB numbers (limited and unproven) are nothing to speak of (221/275/260/535).

 

The only improvement he could provide might be defensively over YB. But offensively, probably be much worse. If we are going to upgrade, lets finds someone that is really an upgrade, not just shuffle in another body.

It's pure speculation, but I imagine there may be some animosity between the Brewers and Cruz because he refused his assignment to Nashville at the end of spring training.
