Cubs fire Sveum; Royals hire Sveum

Anybody giving Theo heat is apparently unaware of his stated plan to tear it down and build it back up again from the ground up. A plan which has yielded a ripe farm system that is set to bear fruit shortly. As much as it pains me to type I believe the Cubs will win a playoff game and likely a World Series before the Milwaukee Brewers given the state of each respective franchise on October 8, 2013.

The next hire that they make in Chicago will be telling. I'd be very surprised if they hire a 'name' manager like Girardi, because it would ratchet up the heat on everyone down there.

sveumrules, I don't get why Theo will be successful in Chicago. He's got a farm system, but as history wound up showing, in the long run he had many misses in Boston. Theo's star had faded long before the Cubs got him. While he's a favorite of the saber community, he really had a lot of players fall into his lap.
