Seattle trades OF Michael Saunders to Toronto for SP J.A. Happ

[Matt Breen]

Happ to Seattle. OF Saunders to Toronto. The Blue Jays clear a rotation body and get a serviceable left handed hitting OF in return. Seattle was looking for a back of the rotation guy.

So you're saying the Mariners need an OF now? Sure they could go after Upton but shouldn't they try to acquire an elite defensive OF who's signed for more than 1 season?

Sure re:Upton. Why not, after all Seattle's market has become the LA Dodgers and they just buy whoever they want now.

A little less competition for Marco Estrada now in Toronto.

A little less competition for Marco Estrada now in Toronto.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm kind of pulling for him. Can't say why, just am.

Think this is a poor deal for Seattle. Very solid Batting production from Saunders given away for a back end true #5SP to maybe Spot Starter? Seriously, if Milw had Happ. Is he even remotely in the conversation to start games for Milw? The AL West is just helping Toronto jump to powerhouse status. Who wants to face that lineup?

Not only did Seattle give up the better player they took on more salary doing so! HA! Such a joke move for them to do.
