Following the Webb acquisition, Scahill was retained and Blazek was optioned. It's possible the reasoning is the Brewers may need Blazek to fill in as a starter if Guerra (or perhaps Suter) falters and need him to get stretched out again.

Exactly. One does wonder if Suter who also has options falters in the next few starts, that they aren't better off with Hader in the rotation now that they have a lefty in the pen and the ability to recall Blazek too.

I highly doubt that they'll stretch Hader out again this season. Seems to me they optioned Blazek to keep him stretched out in case they need him. Hopefully Woodruff can be effective when he comes off the DL if need be too.
