Why would he even go for the 8th if he had zero chance for the 9th?

 

For the record…I would have never sent him for the 8th, it just seems strange though.

 

We better get Hader.

I agree that I would have just sent D-Will for the 8th. Maybe Counsell was hoping for like a 4-5 pitch miracle inning....? It is what it is. He got out of it unscathed. Hopefully Hader finishes it off.

Meh. I know it's high but. ...he looked strong in the 8th. I would understand more if he looked really shaky in the 8th.

That's my question. That wasn't a long inning. He was over 100 after 7. I'd think the options are Devin-Hader or try to finish it at that point.

Dumb call, in my opinion. If you are trying to monitor his pitchcount why let him go 115? Another 10 pitches for a huge fan milestone is not a big difference.
