The Brewers and Padres are both free falling after the big trade. Baseball is not fun to watch right now.

This season hasn’t been much fun to follow. Won’t be long now, and we can officially stop caring.

Anyone who thinks that Frelick will make  a difference in a Brewer playoff push just isn’t dealing in reality. The past3-4 weeks have demonstrated that this team is a paper tiger and is nowhere near a playoff team.

Yes. And other stretches of the season have demonstrated something different.

Frelick certainly can make a difference. I have no idea if he will, but I suspect we'll find out. They're actually right in the mix for being a playoff team, thanks largely to MLB & their desire to get 40% of teams into the post-season. Do things have to change drastically for that to happen? Yep.

In some ways it might be more interesting if they bring up some youngsters.

Nice to see CC’s bromance pitched the 11th-what is his obsession with this guy?

We desperately need Yelich to come through in ducks-on-the-pond, less-than-2-out situations. An RBI groundout or sacrifice fly just aren't enough:

  • Yesterday: 6th inning, down 6-5, 2-on, 1-out: RBI groundout
  • Today: 10th inning, up 4-3, 2-on, nobody out: strikeout

If our leadoff hitter can't collect a hit in these situations, it'll be very difficult to find enough offense for this stretch run.

I refuse to blame this  loss on Yeli.  There's too much more blame to go around.

But the fact that Yelich's value is as a lead-off hitter with little power and an ability to get a few walks... instead of as an RBI machine, shows how far he has dropped since his knee-cap thing. This is not news.

While he is not the only cause he gets the lions share for the drop and the terrible AB with 2 on and no one out.

I get that u want to bang on Yelich . totally understand. But its really a team non effort. . black holes in cf , 3b, DH and on and on. This team just can't string hits together , nothing clutch about anybody or at least someone we could rely on. Seen this last year with no corrections for this year . not in to firing people but it could be time for CC to go ! He looks clueless right now.

Agreed that it's essentially a complete team letdown, except for Freddy. We had 1 extra base hit and the Cubs had 2. Our relievers couldn't hold 3 leads. And I agree that CC seemed to sleepwalk through yesterday's excruciating loss (zero pinch hit situations in a back-and-forth affair??), so I was happy to at least see some attempted in-game moves today.

With Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Lauer, Adames and Renfroe, I still believe that we can compete. But we're running out of time.

Clearly not about motivation. And if you're talking about being capable of simply making the playoffs,... I don't think it's about talent either. I think it's more about executing in the moment, and just sometimes not being very smart or fundamentally sound. ... when Yelich went up to bunt...on a 1-0 pitch he squared around &took a pitch that was about as buntable as you can get. They showed him sitting in the dugout after striking out & he looked like someone just shot his dog. I don't like to type this, but I hope he felt as bad as he looked.....

Sorry to severely edit your spot-on post; just wanted to highlight my favorite part.

I think Counsells' managerial ability has been curtailed by the 3-batter rule, and by the DH. He used to make a lot more moves because the rules allowed it. But I don't want to sound like an apologist for him, because he's had a questionable year at best. There are different ways to respond as a manager when things are going poorly. I don't know what this clubhouse is like personality-wise, but the way he's responded this year is neither effective nor what I personally prefer.

I hope my lasting image of him this year isn't the weird balk call in San Fran, where he responded by standing there like he was waiting for a bus.

I agree on the DH.

It has hurt this team in several ways. .

#1. Other teams make our starters work harder and shorten the starts.

#2, Brewers probably have one of the least productive DH combos.

If things continue to go south and they are eliminated with a couple of weeks to go is there any unrestricted free agents they would DFA to make room for some youngsters?

In years gone by you had unlimited call ups but not now.

A few months ago I said the Cardinals would win the division and the Brewers wouldn’t even end the season with a winning record.  I still believe both are unfortunately going to happen.  This team sucks and has sucked all year minus the hot start vs crap teams that had a really crappy start.

And now the crappy teams have improved while the Brewers have regressed. This team is no better than the bunch that broke camp and probably is worse.

Do Packer fans here remember around 2011 when we thought, "man, we are so lucky to have Mike McCarthy. This guy just knows the sport. This guy will be here as long as he wants and will have a a street in the city named after him",

and then about 5 years later we realized, "Nah, there's nothing special about this guy."

That's kind of where I'm at with Craig Counsell.

I am definitely all in for bringing up some young guys, as it would be much more interesting and entertaining than what we have now. Maybe I will watch again, but for now it’s just looking on my IPAD or Iphone,  instead of wasting my time.

Get Yelich out of the outfield and bench him for awhile, for sure!. At least just put him at DH! His arm is definitely a huge liability and even his fielding is very questionable because he can’t get over his last at bat! He has been a head case now for 2 years! What a disappointment! I loved watching him and we could always count on him.

Bring up replacements for center and left for sure. It would be fun to see new young energized players. But it probably won’t happen until they are out of the picture, but someone in management should see the writing on the wall. They are toast!

Until then, my golf game may improve (doubt it) but it did with the Packers in the 80’s. Watch a half and then go golf! Great fall golf!

For now, I can’t wait to see a Packers game with a much improved defense!

Glad I missed another piss poor performance against a team we shouldn’t lose a game like this to. Yikes.

#FreeFrelick!
heck free the entire AAA outfield - they can’t be worse than Yelich and company at this point lol

Everyone gave 100% and had fun. That’s what really counts. Everyone’s a winner today.

Sounds like they should be playing at Helfaer Field.  They might even have a decent offense if they got to play there!

I know I was called a conspiracy theorist for saying it earlier but Counsell has looked disinterested all year and I expect him to walk away after the season and take some nonsense front office role.

Maybe he wants the flexibility to watch his sons play.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Today is just another reason why this is not a playoff team and even farther a WS team. They are just no good just jettison who you can in the off-season an move on
