The Low-A Mudcats take on White Sox’ affiliate Kannapolis away this week, with 19-year old RHP Yujanyer Herrera (4.19 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 in 19.1 IP) returning from the injured list to start the opener. 18-year old CF Luis Lara (.231 AVG, .649 OPS in 51 PAs) has reached safely in all 11 games he’s played this season.

Wisconsin is home against Royals’ affiliate Quad Cities, with RHP Stiven Cruz (6.26 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, 7.8 K/9 in 23 IP) needing to bounce back from two rough starts. Freshly-promoted C Matt Wood (.293 AVG, .956 OPS in 109 Low-A PAs) gets put immediately behind the plate in his first High-A game.

AA Biloxi is on the road at Reds’ affiliate Chattanooga this week, with phenomenal 21-year old RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (1.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 12.9 K/9 in 28.2 IP) starting tonight. The team welcomes RF Lamar Sparks (.216 AVG, .708 OPS in 66 PAs) back from a stint on the injured list.

The AAA Sounds are on the road this week facing Rays’ affiliate Durham, with RHP Janson Junk (2.90 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 6.7 K/9 in 31 IP) starting the opening game. LF Skye Bolt (.294 AVG, .854 OPS in 60 PAs returns from injury to bolster a depleted outfield.

While Carlos F. Rodriguez (Biloxi - 6 R (4 ER) in 3 IP) and Janson Junk (Nashville - 5 ER in 4 IP) have struggled tonight, Carolina's Yujanyer Herrera has had a successful return from a 2-week injury, allowing just one hit and an unearned run in 4 innings of work.

The Mudcats lead Kannapolis 5-1 in the 5th inning, but are presently delayed by lightning. Luis Lara and Jace Avina each have two hits, while Luke Adams and Jesus Parra each have two RBIs.

Nashville loses 7-2. Darrell Thompson had 2 K | 1 BB in a scoreless frame, Jon Singleton bomb, Blake Perkins stays hot at 2-5 with a SB.

Biloxi falls 12-6. In addition to the aforementioned Quero explosion, Chourio went 3-5 with a bomb of his own. Black (1-4, BB), Zamora (2-4, BB), Sparks (1-3, BB) and Ethan Murray (1-3, BB) all reached multiple times as well.

Carolina’s offense went off tonight. Lara and Areinamo each with 4 hits including a homerun for Lara. A bunch of others with multiple hits including Guilarte.

Mudcats also got a coreless relief work from Nick Merkel (2 IP | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K) and Tanner Shears (1 IP | 0 H | 1 BB | 3 K) who lowered his ERA to a nice 0.69 on the season.

Wisco shutout out 7-0 with doubles from Eduarquai Fernandez and Robert Moore the only XBHs among four hits on the evening while Russell Smith (1 IP | 2 H | 0 BB | 1 K) threw the lone clean frame.

Quero is a better prospect than Chourio.

Quero= underrated

Chourio= overrated
