Links and Such

i'm having a bear of a time figuring out how to properly 1) post links (in that cool way where the link actually has a title instead of a plain url address) and 2) enter standings in a way that is readable, etc.

 

i've already read the FAQ and messed around with this a bit but have gotten nowhere. everytime i try and post a titled link and preview it first, ez board tells me i didn't complete the code or text or something.

 

i know these questions get asked all the time, so thank you in advance for your patience and advice.

When you're posting a message or a reply, there's a "link" button to the left of the text input window. When you click it, it guides you through the two-step process of pasting a link.

i guess my next question would be: what (and how) is the best way to present statistical info/standings (in an easy to read fashion) in a post?

There's two tricks to this.... First, you need to get data formatted using a plain text editor like notepad.. something where you're using a fixed width font (where each character is as wide as all the others, like courier).

 

Next, you need to use the "code" tags.... like this:

 

my stats are here

 

That tags will make your data show up in a courier font.

sorry if i'm sounding completely technically challenged (i really am), but what do you mean by "notepad"? as in the "notepad" available in some of the microsoft applications?

notepad, as in the built-in text editor that comes with Windows. (under accessories in the start menu, I believe)

One other thing. Don't use TABS when building your statistical tables. Be sure to use spaces for everything.

thanks for the help. i was noticing the spacing issues that came through using tabs.
