I'd like to buy a domain address that links to a website that's already created. A baseball league I run has all our schedules, rosters, etc. on a larger site. The address to go straight to our site is long and I'd like to be able to tell people to go to www.baseballleague.com instead of bigsite.com/reallylongword/gobbledegook. Everywhere I look to buy a domain also includes hosting but I don't need hosting. I know I did this for my personal website I had a about 15 years ago but I can't figure it out now.

Another option might be Domain Forwarding.  I don't know what host you would use for www.baseballleague.com.  Hosts such as GoDaddy will allow you to do exactly what you are trying to do.  It will set up a Permanent Redirect.

There are some fancy <html> things you could do with <meta> tags, but I'm not sure how it would work.  If you look up Domain Forwarding, you might be able to find what you are looking for.

Here is a video that might help, too.

Of course, I might be wayyyyy off base.  😉

So you have one of those websites through a hosting site, but it uses their site URL...basically? Whatever the hosting site is should have an option to buy the domain through them or should have a way for you to buy it elsewhere and port it in.
