Breakdown

The Brewers began their week in Philadelphia to take on one of the league's best, the Phillies. And it showed. Behind three of their best starters, the Phillies would sweep Milwaukee in a series that didn’t see much offense on either side. Pat Murphy would call the series a much-needed teaching moment for the squad. The Phillies are now the sole team in the NL that hasn’t been swept after handing the Brewers their first clean series loss all season.

The worries from the Phillies series quickly faded with a 10-0 victory against Detriot on Friday. Blake Perkins and Brice Turang would drive the offense in game 1, behind eight innings on one hit ball from Tobias Myers. Game two would see a four-run comeback capped by a go-ahead two-run double from Jackson Chourio and a dominant bullpen performance. The Brewers would look to make it a .500 road trip in game three behind Bryce Wilson, facing off against Tigers’ ace Tarik Skubal. It would not turn out that way. Skubal pitched to Cy Young form, and Bryse Wilson surrendered ten runs through the first five innings. The Brewers would drop to 2-4 on the road trip.

Highlights

Jackson Chourio’s go-ahead double in Saturday’s game.

Some nifty baserunning from Brice Turang.

It wasn’t the trip to Philly Milwaukee might’ve hoped for, but Hoskins hitting a bomb in his return felt too good to be true.
