Breakdown / Highlights

The struggles continued for the Brewers last week despite the neutral record, as they got shut out for the first two times on the season, and fell further behind the Cubs after the NL Central foe was dominant at American Family Field in the first two games of the series.

Scoring two combined runs in a three-game stretch against the White Sox and Cubs was really just a paradigm of this season so far. The talent on the squad is evident, the team plays (mostly) fundamentally sound baseball, the coaching staff generally does a good job with in-game management... and yet, the product on the field is wildly inconsistent from game to game. Salvaging a .500 week thanks to a dominant Freddy Peralta effort against the Cubs was a breath of fresh air, but with three consecutive American League contenders on deck, Milwaukee is going to have to bring its A-game a lot more frequently if it hopes to make more out of May than it did April.

Here are some highlights from the week:

Isaac Collins’ first career bomb!

Milwaukee’s six-run rally against the White Sox to steal a game:

Jake Bauers has been putting together a nice season off the bench. (And on the mound, with four scoreless appearances.)
