Breakdown / Highlights

The Milwaukee Brewers scored only 14 runs last week, so needless to say, there weren’t many offensive highlights. There is one day in particular that stands out from the previous week, when the 9-spot Milwaukee hung over the Guardians, and there was one player whose day was worth celebrating. Rhys Hoskins, who recorded a four-hit, five RBI day, which counted for 35% of Milwaukee's offense all week and included this two-run shot:

On the pitching side, there wasn’t much new worth celebrating either. Logan Henderson made his second start of his career, becoming one of the few Brewers to win their first two career starts. Still, undoubtedly the most celebrated thing from Brewer land came from the Brewers' AAA affiliate out west, when highly touted pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski was clocked throwing some serious heat late into his most recent start (and lowering his season ERA to 1.46 in the process).

And lastly, here’s the catch of the year candidate from Jackson Chourio that saved a game-tying home run from Royce Lewis on Sunday:

Meanwhile around Brewer Fanatic, here’s a few things from the past week you won’t want to miss: Your daily reminder that it ‘ain't over ‘till it’s over (or why maybe it is), what the future may hold for the shortstop position, and the core of the issues behind the Brewers recent struggles.

5/19/25, 11:00, EDST.  Milwaukee has a number three hitter (Yelich) below the Mendoza line at .199.  The combined output (loosely) of the two third basemen is AB 137, H 20, 2b: 5, HR 2, avg .146.  The third baseman currently in the .160s.  SS at .175?

Is there any other team in MLB with a more woeful 3b product?  Call up WHOMEVER in the system, Double AA if need be, that can hit their hat size.

Drop Yelich to seven hole until he starts doing more than grounding out 60% of the time.

Twinkies in Geroge Webb stratosphere.  Cardinals, what, 10 straight, can they catch Cubs?  So, it can be done.

Once convinced they cannot compete, sit Contreras down before he ruins his future

Chourio will become Giannis-like in short order if they don't find some competence to play around him.

Crew will be in a death struggle for last place with the Pirates before it's all over.

Arnold can consider themselves lucky if Murphy doesn't up and resign before September.
