Manfredi didn't retire any of the six batters he faced - three hits including a grand slam and three walks. Holub inherited two of Manfredi's baserunners with no outs and didn't allow any runs (K, force out, K).

This was Payne's first day in a big-league camp dugout, and he doubled on a ground ball to center field in the 9th, finishing 1-for-2. His knock was against RHP Geoff Hartlieb, a journeyman with 68 MLB relief appearances under his belt (albeit with a 7.95 ERA).

Adamczewski, who walked in his prior plate appearance, followed Payne's double with a two-run groundball single to center.

Was at the game and saw Fitz close it out. The Reds had their backups in by then but the stuff popped and he is a towering figure on the mound. Lefty to boot. Pretty sure the Brewers cultivated another high leverage bullpen option here and only needed a 10th round pick, an $100k signing bonus, and a few years in the system to do it. How many millions did the Cubs spend on their bullpen this offseason?

Cooper Pratt made a spectacular diving catch on a line drive in the hole to end the game. Fitz and Gary were loving it.
