He’s probably the 4th best hitter on this team. If you’re going to complain about hitters I’d start with Ortiz, then Frelick, Rengifo, Hamilton, Perkins and Lockridge (small sample size Matos and Jones). I don’t want to even think about the pitching.

Oh I agree those guys are pretty putrid I'm just saying for Mitchell to take another step the K rate has to improve.

Sal can’t help himself.  He has to swing as hard as he possibly can every time he swings the bat.

And his backside keeps collapsing causing him to fly open.

Right now we have a lot of guys who are showing too much vertical movement with their head and body while swaying

Honestly wouldn't have taken Patrick out just yet myself.

He was only at 81 pitches. The way this bullpen has been pitching I’d have tried to push him into the 8th.

I didn't want to be the first one to say it. 81 pitches and was throwing well. I would have allowed him to work the inning.

I know they added vogelbach to the hitting coaching staff but wonder if they lost somebody important in the off-season.

We have like 3 guys in our lineup who can hit.  No hitting coach would be able to get this lineup to hit.

Murphy got away with it, but imo pulling Patrick when he did was an unforced error.  Why you'd want to turn two extra outs over to a pen that is flopping around the way the Brewers pen has been is beyond me.  I'll give him a pass for the rest because Patrick likely gets to 90+ pitches if he finishes the inning and probably doesn't come out for the 8th regardless.

With Hall and Ortiz on the field at the same time, can’t help but think sort of an underwhelming return for Corbin Burnes + comp pick, even if it was just one year of Burnes.

Yep.  It's incredibly frustrating, but you can't blame the hitting coaching staff when you're missing 3 guys out of your projected 1 through 5 lineup.

And they scored 6 runs last night.  That should be enough, but the pen imploded again.

And we just took out one of the guys who can actually hit.

I’d rather stick with Mitchell lefty/lefty every time if the alternative bat is Blake Perkins.

Not disagreeing, but it's fascinating to me that, right now, bRef WAR has this trade dead even.  To date: Hall + Ortiz = 3.9 WAR. Burnes with the O's? 3.9 WAR.

By the Brewers way of thinking, that trade was just fine. We can debate whether or not that's the right way to think, but they're committed to it.

You’re right, and most of that WAR is from Ortiz in ‘24.

But hard not to be underwhelmed when you get an oft-injured long reliever and a all glove no hit SS for one of the ten best pitchers in the game at the time

Orioles also got Ike Irish with the comp pick when Burnes left as a free agent. He’s the orioles #4 prospect
