Hamilton is in the game at 3rd. They pinch hit for Ortiz they don’t have any infielders left on the bench for Jones. They have other options in the OF

I was quite vocal about my opinion of Joey Ortiz last year. Nothing has changed for me. The black hole in the lineup isn’t worth the above average glove.

Well, the reassuring news is that the MLB record for appearances in a season is 106 and Ashby is only on pace for 96 ... so at least he isn't on pace to be the most used reliever of all time.

2nd place all time is 94.

So he is on pace to be used the 2nd most of any pitcher in history through 17 games. Silver lining.
