I think probably the most obnoxious thing is that I’ve having to come to terms with the fact that perhaps MLB umpires are not as terrible as I suspected they were.

At least, they know the zone much better than our players apparently do.

They were that terrible. If ABS has done anything, it's made these umpires better at their jobs. For seven years or so they consistently called obvious balls as strikes. Those are the calls that should be challenged, not the borderline calls. A good rule of thumb would be to only challenge the obvious misses the first six innings of the game. If you want to challenge close calls after that, I'm fine with it.

It's time for Murphy to tell the hitters that they can't challenge early in games.  Challenges should be only used on defense for the first 5 innings or so.

I think they do need some common sense ground rules. I wouldn’t go this far, though. A bases loaded 3-2 pitch in the 4th inning could end up being far more impactful than anything in the late innings.

It seems like this umpire has decided, “haha, they can’t do anything about it, so I’m just going to call the zone like I would have used to call it for them now.”

Abrahms would look so good in Brewers uniform. A shortstop with a good bat. Wow.

That’s what a good bat is?  Trying to pull a pitch low and away???? What?

if Robert crawley was in this game thread, he'd undoubtedly be posting "WEIMER" for every mention of joey weimer. (for some reason)

You are absolutely correct! I’m outside enjoying the weather for now!

Is this serious? Ops is 954

Power doesn’t mean they are a good bat.  Good power but bat wise Abrahms is a K machine.

You must be mixing up Wood and Abrams though Wood is an even better hitter than Abrams. Abrams has a career 19% K-rate.

Yeah Abrams is not a K machine at all, 19.4% for his career. For comparison Yelich is 22.1% for his career and Turang is 20.3%.
