Well, not the roster yet, of course, but just a reminder that it's not far off:

We had posted a similar press release from the team back in February, but this one included the additional quotes and information about the players' schedules, routines and fees, which seemed informative.

No, unless anyone is in Maryvale watching these intrasquad games and workouts, and reports to us, we'll have to wait until the short-season Pioneer and Arizona Rookie League seasons begin.

This article's kind of a big tease; it gives us a roster, or a sense of one -- we'll have to wait for that official list; when they discuss Josh Murray's surgery here, it refers to prior to the Brewers' drafting him...

I believe it's 19 picks signed as of Monday night the 9th; 24 signed from last year's draft, with one (Tom Wilhelmsen) signing too late to see action in 2002. That comparison does not include DFE's from 2002 signed just this spring.

The article says 36 total guys have been assigned, tho the Pioneer League roster limit is 35 active, so someone is on the DL.

21 pitchers assigned? I want you all to sit down and imagine Daverry Lopester trying to handle that staff. That would be excellent to watch.

I count 20 pitchers, and one of them, Mega Thomas, won't be pitching anytime soon last I heard. Who is the other guy? Who's starting? Who's the closer? Would you go insane if you had this many guys on your staff?

Judd Richardson, Dana Eveland, Eric Henderson, Brian Montalbo, Gabriel Mendoza, Tim Dillard, Alex Correa, Greg Moreira, Mitch Stetter, Tyler Shepple, Dan McKenna, Greg Kloosterman, Phil Hendrix, Ricky Stover, Kenny Durost, Dan Grybash, Simon Beresford , Eric A Thomas, Eric M Thomas, Nick Slack.

I'm going to go out on a limb that no one else cares about and go with Tyler Morrison as the other guy. Or... could it be... Carlos Ramirez, golden boy of the Power 50?

As for the 15 positional guys, here's who we have presently assigned to Helena:

Catchers: Lou Palmisano, Manny Ramirez

Infielders: Will Lewis, Josh Murray, Justin Barnes, Andri Gomez, Carlos Corporan

Outfielders: Drew Anderson, Francisco Plasencia, Manuel Melo, Robby Deevers, Terry Trufholz

That is 12 guys, not 15. So, educated guesses on the other 3 guys: Catchers Jeremy Frost and Vinnie Rottino, and corner infielder Taylor McCormack

That's a lot of guys, and a lot of guessing. One more week until we fire up the Pioneer League. Yay.

Thanks I didnt see it.

Dana is having a great time and has enjoyed bieng a closer. He has never done it before and I feel it is always a good thing to try different things, maybe they will put him at first base and let him hit again..(I hope not) He said the team is a pretty tight knit group and get along real well. I guess that is easy when you are winning.

Eveland's numbers are simply astonishing to me, given that park / league. As a team, Helena was carried by their pitching, IMO...if I get a chance I'll peek back to past team ERAs for Helena...I may just be dim, but I can't remember anything like a 3.96. Maybe the Scott Karl / Kevin Kloek staff?
