great game by Wes. See guys, he isn't terrible. Seriously though, Wes isn't a bad pitcher, but he needs to make some strides. He's been very good for 4-5 innings this year. Hopefully Wes learned some things this season and can come back next year and compete for a rotation or bullpen slot. I can see him being a very good reliever, as his stuff is very similar to David Weathers'

I was talking about the guy calling the game with (Daron).
I didn't see the game, but if things went as planned, Sutton's partner would have been Astros color man Jim Deshaies.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Congrats to Wes on a great start...hopefully this is something to really build upon. Then again, we've said this before. No more pessimism, today was Wes' day.
"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."

Could Wes be another Brooks Kieschnick next year? He's proven that he can hit and as DHonks said he can throw for 4-5 innings. He sounds perfect for long relief or an occasional pinch hit. Now for his nickname...

Obie won! Obie rocked!

Who'd have thought that the Brewers' first complete game shutout of 2004 would come courtesy of lil Wes?

Today was really fun at the ballpark (and I guess it's a good thing we went rather than rely on FOX 47). 22,000+ seemed small for fan appreciation day, but it was definitely a home-team crowd. I enjoyed this game about as much as I hated Monday night's late-inning collapse.

Thanks, Wes, for a good memory to see me through the off-season. (In the 22 games we attended this year, the Brewers were 14-8. Despite the second-half plummet, this is the best in-person record I have experienced since sometime in County Stadium.)

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

If the Brewers were 14-8 with you in attendance, you need to be on the payroll.

The crowd was small, but the Brewers offered refunds for those who couldn't accomodate their schedules to the game time change.

jeremyraz,

I still think a good idea with our 3 good hitting pitchers (Obermueller, Kieschnick, and Capuano) to send them to minor league games to DH or play the field on days they don't toss in big league games.

1. Mass, MLB changes times, not the team. Can't worry about what you can't control.

2. I'm sure many folks switched to last night's game, as it drew 34K.

3. Wes pitched well in 3 of 5 Saturday starts. I wish he'd do that well all year.

not true Al. I remember the Brewers requesting the Angels move up the game time so that they could be back in Milwaukee before the sun rose the following day, and the Angels declined. At times MLB might have say, but I'd think it's more likely that the networks have the power, not MLB.

Well, here in the middle of the state we get the Friggen Cubs on one FOX station, then @ 3 on the other we get the Angles. Seems to make great sense to me

I'm in Texas and got that game instead of Brewers-'Stros as well, what a load of crap.

DH, I believe you're talking about apples and oranges. A team can "request" anything they want, but the home team can indeed schedule the game whenever. However, MLB can "ask" that the game time be changed. I'm not sure if the team can turn that down, or simply never does, but FOX and ESPN have always got whatever game they want, when they want it.
