Sounds Squander Late Lead in Indy - Alfaro Hits Go-Ahead Home Run in Top of the 8th Inning
Once the Pirates are done playing the Super-Two arbitration wait-out, their Paul Skenes - Bubba Chandler combo is going to be fire:
Tobias Myers' outing (nine baserunners in five innings, two WP's, 96 pitches) was at best, serviceable. I have commented in the past that from a purely percentage basis, the salary gap is exasperating for a AAA player vs. MLB, even for a 40-man roster player. The 2025 MLB minimum is $760,000 vs. a minimum of $62,000 for a player in Myers' status. Never mind the perks and lifestyle, that differential of twelve times over is immense, and it's always in the back of my mind as players are bounced between levels.
The Brewers are getting as-bargained-for performances from Bobby Dalbec and Eddie Rosario, that's exactly what you want to see in case either is needed at the big-league level. Enter the "veteran moxie" type of cliches as you wish, but that's exactly what Matt Arnold and Pat Murphy will cite if circumstances require call-ups there.
Unfortunately, Craig Yoho's first outing vs. a Pittsburgh affiliate didn't match his "Yo-Ho-Ho" Pirates name theme. Two outs, then walk, stolen base, ground ball RBI single (Rosario OF error advanced the batter to second), then fly ball RBI single. Lead lost, save blown, one of the two runs unearned.
Ernesto Martinez remains idle since exiting Wednesday's game early.
Oliver Dunn (0-for-5, 1 K) is just so far from another MLB chance as of now. It's too bad.
You'll find three highlight links at the Sounds' "X" feed, including the bright moment of Yoho's night.

Pitching Dominates in Shuckers 2-1 Win Over Trash Pandas - Kuehner strikes out eight over 5.2 innings, Yeager ties league lead with eighth save
Always get a bit nostalgic when the Shuckers are in greater Huntsville (Madison, AL) for a visit.
Biloxi has scored just six runs total in the first four games of this series, so the fact that LHP Tate Kuehner and three relievers held Rocket City to just one run was especially needed to grab the first victory of this series after three tight losses.
Four Shuckers highlights here, offense, defense and pitching all within.
Yes, he's just 19, but this is Nelson Rada's second season in AA. And you thought the Brewers promote aggressively. The Angels are notorious in this regard.
Cooper Pratt singled and walked, but was caught-stealing, still an OK 10-for-13 on the basepaths this season. In 2024, he was 24-for-27 in SB attempts vs. A-Ball and High-A pitchers and catchers.
Happy for Matt Wood, he homers in consecutive games.

Rattlers Bounce Back to Beat Peoria
You know the routine for T-Rat home games: read the linked summary, enjoy the video highlights, listen to the postgame podcast as you finish up with Carolina and Maryvale below. Enjoy!
We really should reach out to Jayson Stark of The Athletic to find out the last time two MLB teams traded 10-1 scores back-to-back. Oddities like that make compiling Link Reports so interesting.
RHP Tanner Gillis (ten groundouts in his seven stellar innings) was channeling his inner (and outer) Quinn Priester Friday night. What an effort by both! Do you know why the Brewers are excited about and paid the price for six-plus years of Quinn Priester control? To put things in perspective, Priester is five weeks younger than Gillis. That's not to take away from the indy signing out of the MLB Partner Draft League. By the way, how cool is it that our Link Reports are prominently linked on Baseball Reference pages like Gillis'?
When you listen to the Brenton del Chiaro interview, you'll hear him mention the gap in top-end talent that exists with the Wisconsin club currently. It's not stated in a disrespectful manner, but it is stated. This club has fought back to a 23-26 record. Manager Victor Estevez remains top-notch, and hopefully every player toiling in Appleton this year fights through the white noise to fully establish and advance themselves in affiliated ball, whether with the Crew or down the road. Rooting for you, guys.
Blake Burke, hello. Bumped your OBP to .395 by reaching all five times Friday. Eduardo Garcia, hello. You'll be lining up offers as a versatile, young 23-year-old minor league free agent this October if you keep up your current efforts.

Bitonti Grand Slam Lifts Mudcats Past Red Sox
So darn entertaining, this Mudcats team. So bittersweet for the folks in Zebulon, but Wilson is just a marathon distance (26.2 miles) away for 2026 and beyond.
In the "OK, let's get the season turned around" category:
It would be awesome if Bitonti has found something to build on and extend his current tear. Oh, by the way, did you remember he is playing this entire season as a teenager? That helps explain how you go from an 0-for-5, golden sombrero Thursday to what we witnessed Friday.
Braylon Payne (not even 19 years old until August) was idle after playing the prior two days. Payne is pretty prominent in Brenton del Chiaro's podcast commentary.
Credit where it's due - this was LHP Wande Torres' best outing of 2025.
Final: ACL Brewers 5, ACL Rangers 1

The A-Crew's pitching has been so strong, and the staff is so young relative to the rest of the competitions' staffs.
Mad props to those of you who embrace the Statcast data and publish or consume these types of images. As for me, they just get me hankering for Dippin' Dots. Love you, younger generation.
Another 19-year-old, corner infielder (and 2024 corner OF/INF) Gery Holguin celebrated in a big way as the box score will show, on the same day that Brewers Player Development highlighted his efforts.
Oh, Jeferson Quero DH'd. He homered and walked. We did hear that his hamstring injury was nearly of the severity that surgery was required, so we shouldn't belittle the recovery path. Apparently, when Jeferson gets banged up, he really gets banged up.
It's Jacob Misiorowski headlining four Saturday evening games (the Arizona kids are idle until Monday, kind of a school in-service weekend for them). When the Maryvale Men return to action Monday, they will be joined by DSL Brewers Gold and DSL Brewers Blue!
