  1. The number of people who are "fed up" with this team and still post at "brewerFAN dot net" is astounding to me. Either some people simply like to revel in misery or like to get all fired up to tell people "I TOLD YOU SO". Either way, I'm not sure what it adds to the conversation. Constructive criticism is awesome, but "the brewers stink and they will always stink" is simply flailing. A 5-game skid capped by a game lost in a heartbreaking fashion is pretty miserable... but if you're not open-minded enough to find hope in anything regarding the Brewers, I don't know why you're here.
  2. [ This team is heartless. I am at the point where I can't defend them anymore. I have been in countless arguments trying to convince people about the direction of this team but I can't do it anymore. If someone says "the brewers suck, why do you watch them?", I won't defend them. How could you? Right now this team is in danger of imploding and losing 110 games. ] I guess I just don't get so emotionally invested in it. I guess I would tell them that I watch the Brewers because i'll be a Brewers fan until the day I die, and I just enjoy watching baseball in general. The Brewers got beat by the Dodgers and the Cards, arguable two of the best teams in the NL. Yeah, i'm disappointed, but I also realize it's just been 13 games into the season. That's only 8% of the season for a team that I only expected to win a shade under half of their games. I guess i'm not running for that razor blade quite yet.
  3. So our much-heralded bullpen finally implodes as we knew it would, and NOW people are getting ready to jump ship and claim they're done with the Brewers? Apparently, 12 seasons of losing baseball isn't enough to break people, but 12 seasons and 13 games, that's Scoop's limit, apparently.
  4. I've said this before, so it's not just a knee-jerk reaction, but i'd like to see Matt Wise close out games, and Adams in the set-up role.
  5. Of note is that Khalid Ballouli did NOT blow this save.
  6. My boy is pretty upset with your boy, Bill.

  8. Check out the home page for our newest feature, Farm Hops. It is a weekly report by madbad2000 recapping the week's performance by the Brewers' minor leaguers. I'm still working out some of the kinks with syndication and archiving, but the initial installment is available on the home page.
  9. I have to go and re-update the 2003 stats for all players.... There was a problem at the beginning of 2004 where some stats were getting overwritten, and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.
  10. [ In one most recent instance, a thread was locked when a poster broached something that could have been better served in a private email to Brian. The thread was locked to prevent things from going in an unneeded direction, but a previous string of posts that contained very good and needed comments by SoCal and others were in the thread, and honestly, you know that now they will never be read. Can certain posts be deleted to maintain the continuity of a thread, or does this open up just a new can of worms.... ] Good point, molly. We're actually having an internal discussion right now in the staff forum about this matter (and other moderation matters), and have come to the conclusion that it'd be a better idea to delete posts in threads (such as ones containing cussing, or other threads where people try to bait people) rather than turn the site into a thread penitentary. This is how we're going to proabably proceed in the future. If a newbie posts a cussword or something, i'll probably delete the thread and politely remind them once or twice. If it's a repeat offender, the posts will get deleted and the poster may be removed (depending on the severity, and the user's past history).
  11. [ I know you dont want f bombs here but......at least let me believe that you are swearing in the comfort of your home when you watch useless games like this. ] Actually, I don't drop the f bomb at home... but I do have a rather extensive series of towels I bite down on during Brewers games when I feel the urge. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  12. [ Square, if that was directed towards me it wasn't what you think. I actually pressed the * key four times. I didn't type any cuss word. My mistake. ] I was directed to both you and Ajay. Not a huge deal, but it's still against the guidelines i've laid out. I hate to be a nazi, but with all of the growth on the site, i'd rather lean towards the strict side.
  13. It pains me that I have to bring this up again: p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...=576.topic "The Brewerfan.net Fan Forums try to be a bit more civil than other venues. All of the main cuss-words are filtered out. If you see that a word you used is filtered out, please try to refrain from using that word again. Also, using creative spellings to avoid the cuss filter will result in warning, then dismissal. Bottom line, if you'd be uncomfortable talking to your neighbor's 10-year-old with the type of language you're going to use here, you should probably re-word your post." Thanks for your cooperation.
  14. [ What? You're not sitting around waiting to respond to our every whim? Thanks for all the work you do here. ] Yeah, I was too busy banning people all weekend. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  15. Thanks Ja002h, the page is up-to-date now.
  16. I'm using a 3rd party client-side sorting library that wants to sort everything as text data. I'll have to take a look and figure it out. Meanwhile, feel free to use the "Leader Board" page off the Brewerfan.net Features link.
  17. If someone could help me out with the year by year salary, i'd gladly put it on the page. I've just been swamped lately with "real" work http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. [ meanwhile, in AAA: has Fielder always been a streaky type hitter? (noting he's batting .175, although he does have 2 HR's) ] It's kind of hard to tell what's going on with him without seeing his at-bats in person. It's happened before where he was getting pitched around, and swinging at pitches he normally shouldn't have. He's been grounding out quite a bit, so maybe he's getting fooled by some higher quality breaking pitches, and maybe he just needs to adjust.
  19. Edit to say Elmer Dessens is listed as the probable starter st some websites.
  20. [ Enrique Cruz' numbers suddenly interesting; you have to really like the pitching BB-to-K ratios we're seeing throughout most of the organization's games... ] And don't look now, but TGJ is reaching the .300 mark. Is he finally getting used to wooden bats? I still think Krynzel's got more tools, but he'd be a pretty sweet reserve outfielder with those defensive skills.
  21. [ Wiggum says BREWERS ALL THE WAY....loser. ] Brewerfan.net Forums have become what they are today because of the maturity and respect of their posters. I guess I missed this in the chaos of today's game thread. I absolutely will not tolerate name calling like this. http://www.brewerfan.net/images/other/banned.jpg
  22. [ js002h.......WHAT MAKES YOU BELIEVE HE IS A MAJOR LEAGUE CLOSER????????????? ] Excessive punctuation drives me insane. We understand that you're asking a question. 13 question marks is completely unnecessary. By your logic, Mariano Rivera shouldn't be a closer. Danny Kolb shouldn't be a closer. Armando Benitez shouldn't be a closer. Trevor Hoffman shouldn't be a closer. Keith Foulke couldn't be a closer. Sounds a little bit short-sighted, doesn't it? If you're here just to fly off the handle and Brewer bash, than this probably isn't the place to be. Yes, the offense is struggling. Yes, we're pretty unhappy about the Brewers getting swept by last year's NL Champions, but really... even the most pessimistic people can tell the difference between small sample size and reality.
  23. Starvin' Marvin gives up a tater. Ugh.
