  1. Win for Grienke! Love it. Let's get the train rolling now. Lots of hard hit balls tonight.
  2. The biggest difference between the two of them is that Rickie always knew how to take walks. His lowest OBP was .333. Gomez has never broken .300 in the bigs although he came close with .296 and .298 If Gomez had a OBP in the .330 range I guarantee the uproar over GoGo would be much quieter. I really want Gomez to figure it out, but if he can't learn to take more walks his defense will only even out the black hole he can be in the lineup. Whether that's good enough to keep in the lineup or not is up for debate.
  3. Unless my numbers are off its a shade under 7. Not hitting is one thing, but the Brewers have been completely incapable of working counts and raising the pitch counts of opposing pitchers. When you don't walk and swing at everything the opposing pitchers will go deep into games which is exactly what an average of 7 innings per start would suggest. I'm saying the league average is 6-1/3. If a pitcher isn't giving up base runners, of course they are going to get not-quite 2 extra outs. You need to look at pitches/PA to see if they are going deep in the count (which isn't always a recipe for success anyway). Counsell over Hart? Really? Oh I gotcha. You're right it probably isn't the best measure, but I would bet that pitches/PA the Brewers have been under the league average in that same stretch.
  4. The average is like 6-1/3. I don't see how not quite two extra outs proves their "approach" has been bad. It just suggests they aren't hitting, which we already knew.Unless my numbers are off its a shade under 7. 5. In the last 16 games (going back to after the Phillies series), the opposing starters have averaged 6.9 innings per start. That is absolutely pathetic. Their approach is total garbage. Sometimes its not the pitchers, its the hitters.
  6. The only good thing about that was the fact that Pujols stood in the box on what ended up being a double.
  7. True, but Casey needs to make that play. If you don't have range at least catch the balls right to you.
  8. The approach at the plate is just awful. I would be curious if anyone out there who is better with stats can find the average number of innings starters go against the Brewers? McClellan only has 77 pitches through 6 and I feel like every pitcher has been going at least 6 against us.
  9. Some interesting calls by the ump there. Not sure where some of these are missing to Holliday. EDIT: Well I guess all's well that ends well
  10. Kotsay has to have naked pictures of RRR. seriously how this guy has gotten as many starts as he has. He is going to play CF and he starts two days in a row over Hart. I don't get it.
  11. Narveson hit into what would have been an inning ending double play with Gomez at 1st and Lucroy at 2nd. The ball was hit to the 2nd baseman and Gomez held up and ran for 1st when the 2nd baseman tried to tag him. 2nd baseman threw to Pujols for the force on Narveson. As all this was happening Lucroy rounded 3rd and headed for home, ultimately getting thrown out by Pujols on a play at the plate.
  12. Players generally go when their coaches tell them to. That's why they are there.
