  1. I am surprised that no one has brought up several of the old time players dispute the pitch count theory. I know I heard Don Sutton and Kenny Sanders at different times talk about the pitches today get to much rest and are pampered to much. I remember a couple of comments from the interviews; the arm only gets stronger by working it and pitching. Sutton brought up the fact that there are a lot more surgerys now with the added days of rest compared to 10-15 years ago when they pitched every 3-4 days. Sanders talked about having a 3 inning save which is just about unheard now, except in the case of blowouts. This topic makes for a nice debate and I think it comes down to protecting the investments, because we know whatever the team does and it goes wrong they screwed up and are idiots. The example is that if they limit Yo inings and he gets hurt in spring the club should have pitched him more to strengthen his are, and then if the remove the innings cap and let him pitch in fall 4-5 more starts and then gets hurt the club screwed up and should have limited his innings. So I guess the moral is use em while you got em, because you dont know what tomorrow will bring.
  2. I didnt mean worst deal in all of basebal just for Melvin. I believe he was hoping for linebrink as to what happened with Coco last year. Unfortunatley it is not working out any where near that. He tried this and it is failing, it was a very bad deal for the brewers.
  3. So would I as long as Bill Hall starts improving!!!!
  4. Is this turning out to be the worst deal that DM has done is his time with the Brewers? I hate to say but now I miss the Wise, TB, and Coco finish. Why are we changing that? (added tags --1992)
  5. I think and hope it's Suppan. The Brewers back loaded his contract for a reason, and I think the first good offer gets him. When we signed hiim we had a need but since we have found the rookies are pretty good. I would think with Soups salary and Jenkins we could address much needed upgrades at catcher and outfield (left)
  6. I think (and hope) its Suppan. The Brewers back loaded his contract for a reason, and I think the first good offer gets him. When we signed him we needed him, but after the way the rookies are throwing I think we could use his salary for a upgrade in left or catcher.
  7. Where is Hardy in all of that? No doubt he has the potential to be very good (border line great), but will it happen is the question. The point I was trying to make and I do apologize if this was discussed earlier was Hall is a better option at short than center. If you had Hall, where would be the fist place you would play him, center field or SS. I would bet it is SS for you as well. Would Hall work in center of course but would he be better at SS, so with that if we could upgrade SS with Hall and upgrade CF with a better player (TBD) if would make the Brewers a better team overall. Hardy may be a better defensive player but he cant make nearly the plays that Hall can. We all saw what we can do last year, I would like to think that it is just a start.
  8. Good points, but I guess I was looking at the next step as well. If we were able to play Hall at SS that would allow us to get a legitimate CF that can lead off and give us the speed that DM is looking for.
  9. What has Hardy done to "lock" up the SS position for the brewers? I believe that having a power hitting SS is a bonus rather than moving him to a power outfield position where he would be considered by some as average. Once JJ proves that he is healthy I would suggest that we make him available for trades and move Hall to the SS postion where he truly will excel.
