  1. I hate that caught stealing on Weeks, we need guys on base for Braun, now with Cam striking out Braun will lead off the next inning.
  2. I just watched Baseball Tonight and they called Bill Hall the Brewers most consistent hitter right now. Solely because he hit a HR tonight and has 6 total. Now that's pure ignorance.
  3. Well, I'd like to pick knowledge over looks, but I think the classic unattractive but knowledgable female reporter would be Michelle Tafoya, and I just can't stand her. http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0WTefYlHgRIMoUBESqjzbkF/SIG=12fveb8tg/EXP=1208315813/**http%3A//www.minnesotascore.com/articles/images/tafoya-01.jpg With an attractive reporter I find it easier to use the male's God given talent and tune out on what she's saying and lapse into a zippy little fantasy world until they start showing the game again. Kinda like watching a Brittany Spears video on mute. I'm not proud of this, just the way it is. Fortunately Trenni is a qualified reporter and easy on the eyes, chances are I'll listen more to what she has to say. More often anyway. Or probably not. Damn I'm a pig.
  4. I love calling Rickie Richie, ever since Gary Thorne butchered his name for a whole ESPN telecast. Quite often I also refer to him as Richard. Amuses me to no end. I find myself using initials a lot with some guys lately. Like RB for Braun (I'm thinking Arby's?) and JK for Kendall.
  5. It's probably more about getting opposing managers to use up their lefty relief pitchers for Prince and then immediately have to bring in a righty to face Braun. But Billy hits lefties pretty well so it probably still happens that way anyway. I liked Prince in the 3 and Braun in the 4, I wish they had been willing to give it more time. But if they start mashing again like last season there's nothing to complain about.
  6. The Mets fans booed after each of the Brewers' three homeruns and when Hart scored on Sheets' bunt. It's not just happening in Milwaukee.
  7. What was that, an 11 pitch inning? Nice.
  8. Rudy is one that gets me every time. Once I watched it with my brother and I said to him, "so should we have a contest to see who can last the longest without crying?" I lost, I think I teared up like 20 minutes in. Glory - another one that gets me every time - the part at the end where the 54th is the regiment that will lead the charge on the confederate fort, and the white soldiers are lined up watching quietly as the 54th (all black regiment if you haven't seen it) marches by and one white soldier shouts "Give 'em hell 54th!" and then all the rest of the white soldiers start cheering for them.
  9. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/03/02/fielder-not-happy-with-renewal.aspx "I haven't had the chance to talk to Fielder yet about the renewal but I did speak with his agent, Scott Boras, who indicated his client was seeking something more in line with the $900,000 that Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard made last year."
  10. It's all posturing IMO. If the Brewers pay him in the same range as Howard this year, then next season in arby Prince's arguement will be, "Well you paid me like Howard last year, why not give me the $10M contract he got in his arby case?" Brewers have to fight that arby decision with their contract offer THIS season, they're probably going to try to get him for $8M. Personally I have little doubt that Prince will meet or exceed what Howard got this season when Prince goes to arby next year.
  11. I like Joe Buck...mostly. He's very good at calling the game itself, but he can be a bit arrogant sometimes. His skill makes up for it. Jon Miller is good, I could listen to him forever. Can't stand Ron Jaworski, I've never liked that guy. Don't care what he has to say or how knowledgeable he is, he's just way too over the top in his presentation. He's no less arrogant then Joe Theismann, but I actually liked Theismann. Theismann was witty and entertaining, Jaws is just annoying. He's a Matt Millen wannabe, even down to believing he'd be a good GM. Laughable.
  12. Luis Pena may not be the next great closer, but he definitely has potential as a late-inninngs guy. It'll be interesting to see how he fares closing at AAA this year because he could be a legitimate candidate for a major bullpen role in '09. Jeffress has also been mentioned as a possible future closer type guy, just because of his ++ fastball. But I think he's going to be given every opportunity to start first, and his arrival in the majors is probably 2 to 3 years away. As long as he can stay away from the reefer.

  14. On the Marlins home page there's an article calling it a "sublaxation" of the shoulder, which I guess is a partial seperation. I doubt it would end his season if this is true. I've had minor back issues for the better part of the last 15 years and when I tweak it it has been referred to by my chiropractor as a sublaxation. It wasn't fun but I was never shut down for more than 2 weeks.
  15. Anyone else hoping/praying he takes Berman with him?
  16. I'm not saying Billy watching the ball was a good thing, but it occurred to me that if the roof had been open that ball probably is a goner. I was convinced that was a HR and was surprised it didn't go. I'm sure Billy thought he got it plenty good.
  17. Wicker Man Don't watch this movie alone, because you need someone to help you make fun of it. Terrible performances all around. I've never seen the original, but I want to see it now, so that I can hate this version even more I haven't seen the original either, but I thought the movie was at least mediocre, considering it starred Nicholas Cage who I don't care for. Of course, the original stars Count Dooku, so it has to be better. I saw the Nick Cage version and while I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it wasn't god-awful. The worst movie I can remember seeing...Dungeons and Dragons: the Movie - now there's a god-awful flick.
  18. If I remember right it was a MLB record, at least I remember the announcers saying that the 30th hit tied the NL record.
  19. Ok, I read the thread and didn't see these movies talked about and they are must see's IMO. Glory - Great civil war flick. Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Carey Elwes...story of the 54th Massachusetts regiment made up of all black soldiers and their fight not only in regards to the war, but also for respect and honor as men. The Exorcism of Emily Rose - as far as psycological horror goes...well, I couldn't sleep real well for a couple nights after seeing this one. Just creepy, especially because it's based on real-life events. Others of my faves... The Big Lebowski - Leave it to the Coen bros to invent a drugged-out hippie private eye. Hilarious. Super Troopers - really funny, and I finally saw Beerfest - another silly fun movie by the same guys. I like David Fincher's flicks, 'tho I haven't seen Alien 3, didn't get into those. Seven, Fight Club (especially Fight Club) and I even liked Panic Room but not as much as the other two. Also, I really liked V for Vendetta - maybe not as mind-blowing as when the original Matrix was released, but like the first Matrix movie I went and saw V three times in the theater.
