  1. I find it really odd that in Ken Rosenthal's most recent blog post (Here.) he dispells rumors of the Yankees' offer being turned down, then at the end says "The Yankees remain in the mix for Sabathia, along with the Angels, Giants, Red Sox and possibly the Dodgers." Was it just an oversight to not mention the Brewers? It seems clear that we are still very much in this. (It is Ken Rosenthal, I suppose, so who really knows. Probably not him)
  2. What an absolute roller coaster of emotions with these rumors and blog bits. From certain to be a Yankee, to maybe the Dodgers to Brewers upping their offer to sitting down with the Yankees (twice) to "[Wanting] to be a Dodger" to the Giants being "Supremely confident" that they will sign Sabathia to the Brewers being a front-runner. Jeez.
  3. I was very happy to hear of the programming switch. I actually do enjoy Heller and Murphy, and Lucas/Lepay is going to be outstanding. Listening to Jim Rome and Dan Patrick on 1070 sounds much better than Cowherd and Tirico/Van Pelt
  4. Did somebody say opt-out clause? http://www.vujer.com/material/files/Borat_Two_thumbs_up_yours.jpg
  5. I have a woodwork Uncle Sam ornament much like this one at the top of my little tree: http://www.alilbitoeurope.com/thumbnails/BBH388_t.jpg

  7. A car still within your class that does not always make it into the discussion is a Subaru Impreza. I have a 2008 Impreza wagon that was $15,800 new, but a used one would be significantly less and some like the older styling better. The interior features before 2007 are pretty pedestrian, but the car has some jump, excellent reliability and (the biggest factor, imo) all-wheel drive. They are beasts in the winter. I've driven mine on backroads in 6-8 inches of snow with no problems at all. There's both a sedan and wagon option, space is similar to a Mazda3.
  8. Jim Powell must stay. He is my favorite announcer in any sport, TV or radio.
  9. I started up on Protrade about a week ago and am just getting the swing of things. It's pretty addicting, though, especially with constant updates. I've joined a few challenges as well, we'll see how they go. My username there is the same as here, so anyone looking to add to their "community", feel free. Perhaps eventually we can create a Brewerfan challenge.
  10. I can hardly remember when this offense seemed potent. At all. This season. It feels like they've been so inept for so long. Even in wins.
  11. Anything we could possibly say about Corey Hart right now would be redundant. Precisely the reason why he needs to sit. Put Nelson out there, I don't care.
  12. Dennis Eckersley is embarrassingly bad on the TBS' studio show. More proper for the Silver Lining thread, special guest Curtis Granderson is outstanding. (Ripken is merely okay)
  13. "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" - Elton John, but I prefer the Me First and the Gimme Gimmes version for tonight.

  15. I didn't know either, google result says he has been announcer / analyst for Braves. Yes, Joe Simpson has been a color guy for the Braves for a long time, previously working with Skip Caray, Pete Van Wiren and others. They were familiar faces before TBS cut back so severely on showing Braves games.
  16. Last night on Monday Night Football, Ron Jaworski, while speaking about rookie Joe Flacco, quoted some of his stats from this season but took care to mention that they were a "small sample". I was speechless.
  17. It's so great that the highest quality (moderation, posters, discussion) message board I've ever visited happens to be one that talks about my favorite team. Thanks everyone.
  18. I just don't believe it. One of the best sports moments of my life for sure.
  19. Tonight's Game: We'll know the results of Mets-Marlins around the start of our game. I'll be at work through all of this, so I'm gonna miss it all. Because of this, my personal theme song will be about getting stuck between a need (money) and a want/need (Brewers). "Stuck Between Stations" by The Hold Steady, which you may have heard as a lead-in from commercials to Ueck and Jim's broadcasts . . . Link
  20. This is outstanding. An owner who is this passionate and isn't above a little sports superstition? Love it.
  21. Brewcrewman, Can I get an absentee ballot through you?
  22. This much pressure feels good. Lets win and keep it going.
  23. Whew. 3 games with the Cubs at Miller Park. Tied for the Wild Card. New manager, solid starting pitching, solid relief, offense coming around with (for better or worse) help from smallball. And there's one song that I can't get out of my head . . . I Want to Break Free - Queen (You?)
  24. JSOnline's blog mentions that the Mets have "used up their quota" of day-night doubleheaders, which would force them into a back-to-back situation should one become necessary? What is this quota? Reminds me of a school district using up all their snow days. Blog
  25. I've actually picked up two different networks in the park - one being the RoadRunner network (requiring login or payment) and one titled something like "Free WiFi Access" or something like that. I believe the latter is only available in certain sections of the concourse.
