  1. The Crew is right, sleeping on this would probably have been prudent, yet in life, every point needs a counter point. I don't think my suggestions and points are off the charts, but just one persons opinion. I welcome everyone's opinions. That's why we are here. We are on the same team!
  2. Mass: You are #1 on my list of contributors. Rogers is a stud, 1st round pick. I have talked to Tony Blengino at length about Rogers for the last couple of years...but how does he maintain that position? I put my arguments out there for others to respond to. Not to be a hammer, but I am looking at last year & this year (including draft pos & $$). However, for a team that prides itself for the no longer existent DFE rule...we have to consider those guys that should have been 1-5 round picks, IF they prove themselves and I think you'll agree we have a few of them to consider. That's how I made my arguments. This is all we have is a few short years to analyze these kids...no? Thanks for your insight.
  3. I am very disappointed with this Power 50. Agree with 1-4...Love Cole G...but he's our 5 guy? Jeffress at 8? What int he hell has he done? He's pitching in an ultra protective environment right now...WOW! Glad to see Brewer at 9, but Dillard at 11? Why? How's Fermaint at 16? He has had a crappy year so far, to be kind. I realize that our two "Zachs" are in totally different levels of play, but Jackson has been less than stellar and Braddock has been SICK! To that note, why is Mark Rogers in spot 20? He won't throw a ball until September...I am at a loss with the rationale. I feel Sarfate has been solid...he's at a good spot. 24-33 I agree with, is the reason Periard down on the list because he in in low-A? I agree that Bouche has been over-shadowed by Maldonado, but could Sollman, Salas & Welch be moved up on this list? Taylor Green is ranked way too low in my opinion . I guess that's what is fun about the list, I am disappointed with a few of the moves or lack there of. Thanks!
  4. I am a sucker for the WV club...WOW! But in the spirit of draft day and all of the projected promotions...I say Mike McClendon is a no brainer for various reasons. He has dominated in Low A. It's time he needs to prove himself at the next level. I am not suggesting that he gets a free pass, but as one of the older Power Players...he needs to make the jump and make it happen for himself & the organization. You're not going to promote a young kid like Braddock or Shanks over McClendon. It's a good position to be in, right? Congrats to a great WV club. I hope the promotions do not disrupt the overall chemistry this club has. I believe that they believe they have that "stuff" this year. Go Power!
  5. To DHonks & Mass Haas, I see both of your vantage points. I find it interesting that a great deal of the discussion is what kids can get pulled up from low A and how that trickles up for the organization. I think the BrewCrew are in the advantageous spot of having several draft classes driving promotions from the lower levels. Being a life long fan of another National League team, they were notorious for promoting High A & AA prospects into very pressure packed situations. I think we are in a very good place thanks to Jack & Tony's diligence and understanding of this process. We have a lot of strong prospects throughout the organization...many clubs cannot say that. Tell me if I am wrong...I welcome your comments A
  6. It will make everyday compelling when Braddock returns. Jeffress seems to be settling in well. No need to discuss Will & Yo...their reputations precede them! Parra has been great and don't leave out McClendon!! If these guys stay healthy and prove they can pitch further levels up, this organization is going to rival the old Braves staff, but let's enjoy them now and watch them develop.
  7. Just to be clear, Caufield definitely got snubbed, as well!
  8. Thanks Mass. WOW! How does Green, Brantley not get a sniff and Holmberg, too. I am also amazed Braddock is not on that roster unless it's due to his injury. Are we the Rodney Dangerfield's of minor league baseball?
  9. Man, I am really glad to see Brae Wright have a good game. Here's hoping for a turn around!! These guys are certainly exciting to follow, seems to be great chemistry, too. Anyone know where the SAL All-Star lists are posted?
  10. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can we get a break?
  11. Braddock is unreal tonight, 7 IP-No Runs-2 H-No BB-11k's...probably right around 75 pitches, struck out the side in the 1st & 7th...pretty impressive...AGAIN! Power erupts for 11 runs in 7 innings as well!!
  12. Zach Jack was IMPRESSIVE today! That's a heck of an outing! Thank god for Brewer and Brantley today for the Power! That team is clutch in the late innings. I am relly happy for Michael Brantley to smack his first HR this year and what timeing!! I was beginning to feel like Braddock has developed the "Steve Carlton syndrome", where you go up against a guy with a 6.64 era, you pitch fairly well and leave the game losing 2-1, because your guys who average 10.37 H, 6.11 runs/p game (with a league leading team batting average to boot), strike out 8 times against a sub par pitcher. They also were only able to muster 1 R on 2 hits and an error on Clemens while Braddock was on the hill. I suppose that's baseball, but several of his games have gone that way. Brantley and Mojica were the only guys with multiple hits in the game. Congrats to Aguilar for picking up his second win. Can't wait for the inter-league play to begin so we can really see how this team stacks up.
  13. I will agree that there have been some wonderful surprises this year so far, but isn't that why we follow our minor league teams? Braddock may very well live up to be the Cinderella man this season, but maybe that is because he was a 17 yr old, DFE. The kid should have been a 3-5th round pick. Would we have been that understanding of him if that were the case??? The Power has tremendous speed, good power and very good pitching, with Braddock leading the charge. I am all for getting behind a great story...but I think Braddock and this entire franchise are "The Story", this season. I just get that sense from the players that...they believe in each other...togther, this early. That to me...is the STORY! Kudos to Tony B & Jack Z for finding another diamond in the rough! This is "Money Ball" ++ There are many exciting times to come!
  14. Sad the Power doesn't let Braddock start the 7th...perhaps his pitch count got away from me...great job...another great job at the plate from the Boys and Periard has been solid if not better in relief, so they have been a lethal combination.
  15. Braddock just gave up his first run of the year, but he has kept the ball down which is an improvement on last year. I like the GO's...the offense has been great, so has the defense. Zach bucks up and gets out number 2 another GO...love that he's K'd Clemons twice-looking
  16. Power's first inning was disappointing, but you get the sense big things are coming. Braddock looked good, two GO and a K...only hit was opposite field, didn't hurt him...Holmberg had a great hustle in opening at bat...this line up is lethal! Chapman just doubles in Holmberg! All three hits are extra base hits! Give Braddock a few runs and he should shut Lexington down.
  17. I am sorry I missed the game, but with the offense the Power has displayed the last three nights, I think the Hickory staff may have been a bit overrated (or over-matched). Nice to see the bats are complimenting the speed, the defense and the excellent pitching...mix in a little spunk like Bouchie (one of my favorites) & Co... and you've got one hell of a team! GO POWER!
  18. I think because he commands such a strong change up like you saw l Friday night, it makes his fastball appear even faster and likewise, the off-speed stuff more effective. I like that he's built on each appearance...although it will be tough to replicate that performance! Here's hoping! I am really enjoying the entire pitching staff on this squad.
