  1. Looks like Dillard had a respectable outing...errors, errors, errors! Rivas (who has been good early on) got a lil' roughed up today. Mercedes did a nice job and Braddock might finally be where we have always hoped he would be. 7IP, 3H, 1ER 2BB & 13K's (most swinging)...very impressive. Meadows had a good day. It appears he is not going to overpower people, but his size and success makes him interesting...what does he throw, BK?
  2. Mass- Zach Braddock had his ulnar nerve decompressed. (see link) http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00069 It was getting irritated moving through the groove in the humerus bone so the surgeon transposed it into his muscle tissue to protect it. All accounts say he is throwing well and without any pain.
  3. Mass, as ususal, a very intuitive observation...do we need to look at upgrading the pitching instructors in our org. Look what Mazzone has done year after year with Atlanta. Are we providing a consistent message top to bottom with these kids or are at each level they getting a different message? What techniques and frame of mind are we building with these kids? How abouth the psychological aspect of pitching? I commend you on such a thought provoking statement. It really makes me wonder. You can look at other teams to that struggle or succeed in the same fashion. Thoughts?
  4. I don't know if i should feel better about TH reporting the same as he WSJ, as I understand Agent 39 has a level of integrity to uphold for his client...but I am a little nervous...be great if he could chime in on the "Zach(s)" issue.
  5. Agent 39, love your input...THANK YOU! But I just got a sick feeling in my stomach, what if the WSJ got it wrong (as you say) and the left hander "Zach" is Zach B not Zach J? Can you comment? Edit: Do not use superfluous punctuation.
  6. I am getting the same feeling...almost making me a little uneasy...
  7. Sad to see Green go if it is Green, Best of luck to LaPorta and please don't tell me we traded a pitching prospect with so much depth in all other areas!
  8. Look, I am from Philly, I root for both Philly & Milwaukee. Philly cannot carry our jockstrap in these negotiations. The best players the Phillies have are on the field at the major league level. so unless they are putting up someone from the major league team (which I cannot imagine anyone doing for a rental player, especially the ultra conservative Phils)...have faith...this farm system is stacked with talent and we have a lot to offer a team like Cleveland who is in desperate need of POWER (i.e., La Porta & Green).
  9. The Dodgers nor the Phillies can offer what we have to offer. What I mean by that is that we do not even have to put Jeffress or Braddock on the board to make this happen. LA is short on talent and so is Philly in their farm system. Stick to your guns Doug Melvin. There are so many good ball players through out this farm system, the Brewers should be able to trump any deal a rival team can make for a rented player. I would take the pitching prospects off the board and bury the competition. Remember, you get 2 big time picks when CC goes his own way at the end of the season. Worst case is you sign the guy and have an incredible rotation come April.
  10. Maybe Butler is getting showcased so we don't have to give up Jeffress or Braddock in the trade?
  11. I like that trade as it includes no pitching prospects on our end!
  12. Hopf just got designated to Huntsville, does that me Salome is headed to Cleveland??? The Dodgers need a shortstop more than they do CC, I am not worried about them.
  13. Zach has basically had one bad inning in those bad outings if you check. This last game he struck out the side in the inning that hurt him the most, he just "lost" it in between K2 & K3...and it was about as ugly as it gets. Remember, this is typical of a "Strike-Out" type pitcher. Half of the walks probably could have been strike outs as he works around the paint. Contrary, half the K's could have been walks. You have to accept that with this kind of young pitcher. He, Periard & Jeffress are the youngest kids on that pitching staff...be patient. These three have the best numbers of Brevard's starters...give 'em time.
  14. Does Jefferies get a sniff? For that matter any of our system's pitchers? Sorry...brain fart....Jeffress!
  15. Zach Braddock after 2 IP 1 H, 5 K's, 0 BB, 0 R Power puts 2 on the board in the first, RBI single by Zealous Wheeler (My Favorite name in baseball)
  16. Spent some time with LaPorta last week in AZ. This is an absolute quality kid with his head screwed on straight. He is working hard, but the quad is a tricky thing to rehab, so the Brewers are taking it slow and steady. He just started to "trot" on Weds, said it, "felt good". He is looking forward to getting to WV, but it is really up to the trainers and management on when he leaves...needs to get a few games under his belt in AZ first, I am told. He is a great physical specimen and an excellent young gentleman. The kind of player you like to see your team sign.
  17. This is a game where sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you...Inman will be back...stay focused Will, stay focused. As someone stated earlier, hopefully he gets pissed...if so...LOOK OUT AA HITTERS! I am really hoping Braddock has a nasty blister or the like...let's hope!
  18. I agree with you, DrWood...he has shown tremendous discipline and production. Ford and Cain have been great too. Fermaint I'd like to see more of before I comment, but from what people have said on here and his demotion to WV, I think Brantley at AA would get my vote over Charlie.
  19. Great pitcher's dual, Ramirez picks up right where ZB left off...maybe it is the jerseys!
  20. My bad...just did the math...if Braddock stays on pace and stays HEALTHY, he'd hit a 100K's in a projected 69 innings...WOW
  21. These guys are sick!! Love following them. Braddock opens first inning with 2K's. His K's/9IP is close to 13.05/9IP...is that still the best in the Minors or do one of these guys own that now?
  22. Sometimes there are intangibles, beyond the statistics, that make a player great. Hats off to a great one-Angel Salome. Why players today can't do more of this is beyond me. I can only hope that this kind of humility can trickle both up and down our organization. I can't applaud loud enough for this kind of performance!! Great job, Angel!
  23. Thanks POGOKAT. I know this is a tough job and I hear what you guys are saying. But I thought this was forum to speak our minds and I did as I mentioned. Part of disseminating our personal opinions is taking in all of the other opinions. I don't think there is anything wrong with that and in fact, I am open enough to take all of your advice under consideration. I view this forum as a highly sophisticated collection of minor league experts. My provocative opinions are mine. Your responses make me more educated as I hope sometimes my input can affect yours. I think you guys are all great, but I feel comfortable enough to speak from the heart. I may not be aligned with the whole everyday...but that's what is so cool about this forum. Please forgive me if I have ruffled your feathers, but I think this is healthy debate, no?
