  1. "The Kotsay in CF in that playoff game was a fatal offense. It was Yost-Shouse-Burrell bad." That was exactly what I was going to say. I think I could have lived with him until game 3 happened. Game 3 is my RRR defined moment, and it's pretty much unforgivable.
  2. It's pretty hard to argue against Arizona for OF talent.
  3. I really don't think there's much to fix. The MLB needs to maybe be more stringent with the process of getting the sample to the lab, but I think one screwed up test based on the actions of a courier is not the basis for a complete overhaul.
  4. I think the odds are very good that his performance in 2012 ends up somewhere between 2011 and 09-10 levels. He's not as bad as he was last year, and he's not as good as he was in 09-10. There are worse options, but I still prefer Green to McGehee.
  5. Parra is bar none the best LF in the NL. It's not close. (EDIT) If he doesn't win it, it's because he doesn't hit well enough for recognition. Really, the entire AZ OF could each win gold gloves and I wouldn't be particularly upset. "isn't rather easily refutable (overall speed, assists, chronically minimal errors, & solid arm AREN'T issues) is that he sometimes takes bad routes." In my opinion, Braun is criminally bad at judging distance. He's great left to right, but he can't go back on a ball at all. He's not very good coming forward either. I'm disregarding the UZR/TZ data entirely, that's purely from observation. UZR/TZ don't like him much.
  6. I will cheer for Prince for the rest of his career unless he signs with the Cardinals or Cubs. Then I will boo him mercilessly.
  7. "As for the Yuni bashing - it's a complete joke on this board and based on his play for the Brewers in 2011, mostly undeserved. " What about his production shows him being anything but terrible? Why do some people put on the blinders when it comes to Yuni? Just to be contrarian? Pretty much every report on Betancourt from scouts/managers/stats/fans in the last 4 years has said that he's awful at defense. He had a .271 OBP! Why is this being defended? He's a bottom 2 starting shortstop in the entire MLB! EDIT: I will say that he had a very important hit this game, and not a bad series overall. I absolutely want him to come through for the team this postseason, but I will be absolutely furious if he plays for the Brewers next year.
  8. They will be eliminated from the baseball playoffs in about a week's time. That's about the best I can do. Also, I don't really have anything against Berkman or Holliday.
  9. "Badger Rose Bowl" I won't lie, those are low sights for me. Undefeated or bust this season.
  10. No wave, no beast mode stuff. That's the players' thing, let them have it.
  11. "We are also not even taking into account on the bases paths here. Fielder needs to be pushed around the bases. While Braun is not an excellent base runner, he does have 30+ steals and has stolen bases at a very high %. He is also much more likely to score from 2nd on a simple base hit to the outfield." I would argue that Braun has been an excellent baserunner this season. Braun has been better than Fielder, even when you talk about counting stats. The only thing that I think Fielder has a true edge on is WPA. But a lot of those high-leverage PAs came because Braun was getting on base to score for Fielder or moving the other guys into scoring position with hits.
  12. Saw the movie today, very entertaining. I definitely recommend watching it.
  13. "What are the variables involved? How many of them does the player have 100% control of? If the player has 100% control of all variables involved then how do they not have the ability to increase their chances to 100%?" If someone can will themselves to have a 100% chance of performing, why in the world would s/he not do that all the time? If you have 100% control over all variables, why would you ever swing it any way but the way that helps you the most? If a shooter makes a shot, would you argue that before the shot was ever taken, that he had a 100% chance of making it?
  14. Lawrie still had some major question marks when we traded him as well. He was coming off a season where he hit .285/.346/.449 in AA. Very good for a 21 year old, but not world beating. He also had a .350 BABIP on a paltry 15% LD rate. He also had terrible scouting reports for his glove. Apparently he completely rectified all of those concerns in Toronto. It's not like DM could have known that. Stop evaluating trades in hindsight. EDIT: Also, where was Lawrie going to play when we traded him? LF? No. RF? No. 2B? Not after Rickie resigned. 3B? Casey was coming off 2 good seasons. There were plenty of reasons to make that trade. The Brewers were more likely than not going to lose in total value, but the 3 WAR Marcum's providing from the SP3 position is more of an upgrade this season and next than the possible extra 1-2 WAR we'd get at 3B over McGehee.
  15. "They are just very subjective, check into multiple systems that come up with adjustments and they don't really agree on the values." It seems to me that a positional adjustment would be incredibly easy to come up with. Just compare league average wOBA between each position and determine how many runs per game that equals.
