Great job Gents. That is what I call "manufacturing a run" -
It doesn't make sense. Like I said, Murphy does MANY things right, but he's just not being smart about how he handles the 3B position. I like Bunty, but I like him to play 2-3 times per week. If I had my druthers in a 7 game week Pratt - 6 Starts at SS Ortiz- 4 Starts at 3B, 1 Start at SS Hamilton- 3 Starts at 3B In a 6 game week Pratt- 5 Starts at SS Ortiz, 4 Starts at 3B, 1 Start at SS Hamilton, 2 Starts at 3B

Yeah. Murphy does many things well. Continuing to play Christian and his lack of common sense strategy at 3B is another... Murph might be the classic, take a 75 wins team and elevate them to 95 wins... but that doesn't mean that his approach can work in the playoffs

Definitely not an afterthought. We gave up elite prospects expecting to get a top 2 starter and an elite bullpen arm. if he doesn’t end up as a top 5 reliever in our pen, there will be heartburn. He isn’t a throw in reliever that we gave up minimal talent for in years past

Hopefully May has a solid first game. Bullpen looks like the majority of the pen might not be available today.

PCA was free for 3 years, while Chourio was paid from day 1.... Jackson has earned $15M, PCA has earned $6M But regardless, the question was moving forward. From 2027 moving forward, the contracts are in essence equal. PCA has 6 years and $115 million remaining, Chourio has 7/$117 remaining If you want to look at lifetime, PCA would be 9 years/$121 M and Jackson would be 10 years, $132M, again, virtually identical

Yeah, some of the plotlines are a bit inconsistent (build up & resolution), but its fun seeing some of the overlap with (actors/actresses) from the Jack Ryan series. Zoe Saldana is easy on the eyes as well :)

Actually, the contracts are pretty close over the next 6 years. This far, Jackson has made more than PCA as well jackson has an extra year at $25M (year 7) team option. For purposes of comparison, I assumed that the brewers would exercise the first option.

I believe he has a mutual option for $20 million next season. Some speculated he may elect the player portion of that option with the uncertainty around the 2027 season. The question is, would the Brewers reciprocate?

Which player has more long term value? Both players are completing their third season. Chourio is 2 years younger (22) than PCA (24) Both players are signed long-term for similar deals. Chourio through 2033 (7 years - $132 million), PCA through 2032 (6 years- $115 million) - (assumes both JC option years are picked up by the team) Both have similar offensive career stats through 3 seasons Chourio - .786 OPS (OPS +116) PCA - Career .784 OPS (OPS+118 ) Jackson has been more consistent over the first 3 years, PCA is putting up the best season (.919 OPS and OPS+ 154) WAR favors PCA on the basis of defense While Jackson hasn't "broken out" yet to the extent that PCA has in 2026, he's only 22 and has achieved several key benchmarks that only a handful of players in MLB history have. I would imagine that Brewers fans have almost a universal dislike for PCA (maybe primarily because of who he plays for?) If you were a GM and could inherit the player of your choice (and their contract), which player would you choose?

That is a really interesting point. suddenly a Top 5 of Miz, Henderson, Harrison, May, and Gasser/Drohan looks pretty formidable with the wildcards being how QP returns from injury, how Sproat responds to some tough lessons this year, and what we continue to do with Patrick.

I think Jackson has been inconsistent, but has still exceeded expectations. i think (by Year 5), most of us expect a .850 OPS player who routinely makes the all star game, but expecting that of a 22 year old isn’t realistic. if (by contract end), Jackson has been a consistent .800 OPS player, with hopefully some key hits in the playoffs and 3-4 AS appearances, he will have lived up to the hype.

Yeah, this is crazy. I have no idea why the market is going up this week… - Iran still a mess - Inflation appears to be rising again - long term treasury yields continue to increase i guess TACOs are on the menu again?
